Meltdown on MAD

The aptly named MADboard, for anyone who hasn't noticed has been completely nuts lately. I believe the origin of all this mayhem my reside in Prof. Peterson's "John Gee is a Hack!" thread, though I could be wrong. Elsewhere, one can observe a "stickied" thread that is ripe and stinking with all that is rotten about MAD. The thread in question is called "Cross Posting." Let's take a look:

Chronos wrote:We are also getting tired of the threads about other boards. They suck for some, great for others. Life is perception. Our perception here does not include them, so please, for the sake of everyone, leave other boards out of your posts. We don't have to clean it up, or make an example. Others don't have to live in fear of us.

Thanks,

~Chronos

LifeOnAPlate wrote:Thank you so very much. I'm fed up with CARM threads. I've been hinting at it for a while. Glad we (the mods) finally did something about it.

Now, this is very interesting. On a separate thread (the "Gee is a hack!" thread), LoaP makes further mention of having "insider" knowledge of some kind. This, coupled with his massive, neck-deep participation on MAD, would seem to suggest that LoaP is a MADmod!!!

But wait! The thread gets even more fun:

Wilson wrote:There also seems to be a few tag lines quoting posters or statements from other boards. Maybe getting rid of those may get rid of the baiting to/about other boards.

Chronos wrote:You're right Wilson/richardb! You also have 48 hours to figure out which account you want before I ban them both.

Pahoran wrote:Isn't he also Yme?

Regards,
Pahoran

Ah, I see. The TBMs and MADmods have finally become so fed up with this critic that they have resorted to "outing" him/her in typical scapegoat fashion. I wonder if anyone is going to mention DCP's many sockpuppets, and the far worse distortion and dishonesty he engaged in while using them?

Next, here's "Scotty Dog" Lloyd:

Scooter wrote:So Yme snuck back on here in the guise of two sock puppets and is now lecturing the mods on how to run the board? rolleyes.gif The man does have cheek.

by the way: take a look at Bro. Lloyd's new sig. line:

"Scott Lloyd is also well-known for his often vindictive nature. Virtually any time DCP or Pahoran or some other notable is putting heavy pressure on a critic, "Scotty Dog" can be counted on to deliver a few pointless, ad hominem barbs. He does this for no apparent reason beyond the fact that he evidently enjoys being vindictive." -- Mr. Scratch, from his non-vindictive "Dossier" series

Now, is it just me, or does some bit of irony seems to have escaped Bro. Lloyd? I.e., here he is, vindictively posting a commentary which identifies his very vindictiveness.... Hmmm. Pretty funny, in either case. I also find it fascinating that he chose this particular aspect of his dossier rather than any of the others. I wonder why that is? Hmmm....

Next, Pahoran swoops in to try and shoo away any suggestion that the MADmods leak IP information (too late; we already know that they do):

Pahoran wrote:Please note that I don't actually know that Lamb Chop here is Yme. It is merely something I inferred from something he wrote in one of his richardb posts. I think it's a good inference, but I'm prepared to be wrong on that point.

Regards,
Pahoran

Uh, yeah. Right, "Mr. Itchy."

Next, DCP comes in to dole out a cheap shot:

The Good Professor wrote:You've gotta love it, if the tale is true.

Yme, banned, sneaks back as "richardb," with two contradictory fictional life stories behind his sock puppet, and then, banned as "richardb," sneaks back yet again as "Wilson," with a third grossly contradictory fictional autobiography, and proceeds to lecture us on integrity and on the faithful following of board rules.

Some of the critics are simply priceless.

Yes, and how many "grossly contradictory" sockpuppets has DCP used? Let's see---"Free Thinker," "Logic Chopper," "Monitor," "Fritz".... Gee, how many were there?

Next, check out this funny threat from "Chronos" (or would that be "LifeOnAPlate"?):

Chronos wrote:
oceanblue wrote:Oh by all means. I know how important it is to be tough. Strong in the face of your ruthless adversaries. Goooooooooo team!

I was just thinking about the problem at hand. How to tell who is who? hmmmmmm....It's a toughy. Surely there's IP logging going on, right? Can't just ban certain IPs? That's what I'd do (well....I would never ban people unless they're spammers or post porn or curse repeatedly....or use red as their color of choice when posting).

You can tone down the sarcasm or you will see how we ban.

LOL!!

Finally (and this is super juicy), not report on the Current State of Affairs at MAD would be complete without mention of this:

Daniel Peterson wrote:
Chris Smith wrote:I am doubtful of Dr. Peterson's report.

Doubt it all you want.

In fact, conduct yet another poll of people who have never met me but dislike me. That'll prove me a liar!

I look in on about six anti-Mormon or ex-Mormon sites from time to time, some fairly often and some comparatively rarely. (I also receive a fairly large amount of Christian© e-mail, and see numerous other specimens of Christian© love received by friends and colleagues, often replete with wild assertions and insulting claims.) About half of the sites I look in on have terrible search functions. In at least one of them -- a particularly enormous one, with a huge volume of traffic -- I've never been able to do a search at all. As luck would have it, I believe that it was there that I saw the most recent incarnation of this claim, several days ago. I've seen similar assertions elsewhere, and particularly at another even larger site, from which everything more than about two or three weeks old simply disappears into the ether. Both are given to immoderate and immoderately hostile claims. I'm not going to spend half a day or more in a possibly fruitless search for a claim for which I don't even recall the precise wording (so unremarkable did I find it), quixotically hoping for a certificate of approval from a person weirdly obsessed with criticizing a faith to which he has, so far as I know, never belonged, and all too willing to attack personally advocates of that faith, let alone desperately seeking to win the approval of a small group of people who, on the whole, vocally despise me although few of them would recognize me on the street and just as few seem capable of accurately understanding a single sentence I write. Have you ever heard of cost/benefit analysis?

Still, I find your faith in the rationality and moderation of all critics of Mormonism everywhere and at all times truly touching, if also manifestly absurd and groundless.

Interesting. Now we have evidence, via the Good Professor's own admission, of the full scope of DCP's "obsession" with anti-Mormon cyberspace. Six sites? Doesn't that seem like a lot? It's obvious that one of the sites he's referring to is RfM. I wonder what the other(s) are? CARM, perhaps? We know that he visits us here fairly regularly, if only to try and play "puppetmaster" with some of the posters here.

The first Chronos quote is dealing with CARM. There were a few CARM posters coming over and MADites complaining about CARM's unfair moderation style (oh the irony!). So that's where that comes from.

I'M an actual exmormon, and I only visit THREE sites.

And I've eschewed MAD forever due to the fact that they are morally bankrupt.

This is the only one i check in on any more. I haven't gone to MAD in over a month. Based on the above, i see nothing's changed.

If thing are as bad as you suggest, then perhaps you should put in a call to the Director of Homeland Security.

Or, better yet, have Chris (californiakid) take a poll about whether you are telling the truth or not.

That...or maybe start a new thread regarding your own ironic "Surviellence"

Thanks, -Wade Englund-

Given your avatar, who could doubt that you are in a position to judge moral bankruptcy. ;-)

LOL! Thank you for the update, Mister Scratch!

The MA&D board is many things. Although "intellectual" is not one of them, "entertaining" certainly is.

I think this has been a running Joke by LOAP for the last couple of days. I don't think he is a Mod.
