Could God Order...

Homosexuality? I'm not asking if he ever has or based on what we know, could we ever envision a time where he would. Remember, our thoughts are not God's thoughts, simply I'm asking, could he? We know he has ordered Killing children. We know he has ordered polygamy at the threat of death. We know he's ordered incest and inbreeding. We also know that he's prohibited in strong language most of the extreme things he's personally given the command for at one time or another. Yes, he must have had his reasons but none of you could have ever in advance predicted that God would order such drastic things. Just as Abraham couldn't have predicted what he'd be asked to do nor the friends of Joseph Smith who gave their wives and daughters. That's what makes for a great test, right? Having to really take the Lord on his word?
Now if you can as a believer in God admit the obvious, that yes, it is a logical possibility that God could order his servants to participate in homosexual relationships, would you raise your right hand to the square, as is done during general conference to sustain leaders, and say, "I will go and do the things that my Father in Heaven hath commanded" if the Prophet ever were to instruct you brethren to take a man into your tent in the mountains for a little Brokeback ceremony?

I always thought earth life was about taking out people that would abuse others as a God. How did our God get through that process without being eliminated.

How is this obvious? What if to do so would violate a law wherein God would cease to be God if He did?

It could, but had you never read the Old Testament, you would just as easily ask what if God ordering the killing of children would make him cease to be God? Or had Joseph Smith not made certain decisions, you could ask what if ordering a polygamous relationship with a teenager would make him cease to be God? What is obvious, is that given his many other commands that violate our sense of right and wrong -- at least without a LOT of rationalizing and appeals to the context of the times and other gymnastics -- there is no reason to believe he
couldn't order a homosexual relationship.

Killing is bad, yes, but homosexuality is gross! So God could never.....
Just kidding.

So how about answering the question LoP? Would you be undoing the rainfly in service of your God?

The 51-year-old overweight yahoo-chat-trolling math teacher is laughing at the homosexual jokes.
