Escaping Mormonism forever

Ya know what I worry about? What I really truly fear is that I will not be able to stop discussing Mormonism with people who ask questions following a discussion of my history. I am sick of it.

I wish I could quit you!!!!!

I hear ya man.

The tired old, "You can leave Mormonism, but you can't leave it alone" is so disturbingly simplistic it makes me want to vomit.

Although I do find Mormonism fascinating, I also must keep myself informed for the good intentioned members who think that THEY are the ones who can bring me back into the fold. THEY will be able to answer my questions (which, ironically, never answers my questions and ALWAYS ends up with a testimony bearing and a plea for me to pray to get my own witness).

Wouldn't not being here help avoid these situations?

Surprisingly, being on these sites actually helps, rather than hurts, particularly if you have Mormon family. Generally, as long as someone who's left Mormonism still has family members in the church, they'll continue to bring up the church on a regular basis. Being informed makes that easier.

Hey, Mercury. I never ask you about your history or LDS -- I just like hearing your stories, 'cause in some weird way I relate. :)

Clarification please

Merc,
Are you talking about TBMs trying to win you back or are you talking about just people who learn you were once LDS and wanting to discuss that with you. I took your OP to mean the latter.

You never will. Too much guilt for rejecting what you know to be true.

Well, if it was possible to see Mercury's inside I'd bet a cool thousand dollar bill that he doesn't have one ounce of that
"truth' you're talking about.

Yes, the latter.
