My Apology and Comment (inc.)

I refer to a thread conceived by Coggins7 concerning Natural Selection. My assumption was that he was attempting humor (and even irony) at the expense of those that do not share his core values and beliefs.

No doubt, if the Mormon church is true, a day will come when you will give your signs and tokens to the Keeper of the Gate that you have never known.

Your delusion of entitlement reminds me of everything I dislike that the real Mormon church countenances.

Badgering the wolves, goats and perhaps a lost sheep or two. If that's what you think makes you a follower of Christ, then there is hope for you - It's been said by your leaders that retards are not held accountable.

TD and others,

I apologise for wording my post as I did and ask your forgiveness. My intent was not to offend, I would rather convey that I have a deep respect and reverence for those with special needs and those that care for them.

I think the one and only similarity that Coggins7 has in common with those that society classifies as mentally disabled is that both have a chip missing. But It is not the same chip.

To qualify Coggins as one that exemplifies the character and attributes of those that the Mormon church deem automatic recipients of exaltation is intended to be an irony.

In my insignificant opinion, Coggins7 is here to be mean to those that he considers less than his perceived value. It is a conscious effort. His primary intentions are not what I would expect a follower of Christ to emulate.

What he countenances is not what I see in those with special needs, quite the opposite.

A couple years ago I was at a Jazz game and the official had been making some ugly calls. At one point I shouted "Are you RETARDED?!" At that moment out of the corner of my eye I noticed a young girl in a wheelchair about 4 rows up and to the left with her family. She was not capable of understanding my slur, I'm certain, but her family could have heard me. I'm not sure if they did or not, but man I felt ashamed. I have tried to completely erase that word from my vocab, and I think I've done a good job of it.

So kudos to you for making a change.

I knew you meant no offense, inconceivable. I agree with your assessment of Coggins.

That you started this thread with an apology is a testament to your character.

Hi Inc,

Thanks a big bunch for your kindness and concern.

I think like California Kid mentioned in another thread, and LoaP on this thread, we sometimes use words that aren't intended to be hurtful but we just aren't really thinking. We all do it at times.

I know you didn't mean to be rude or uncaring and very much appreciate your understanding.

:-)

Well, I guess even if there is a God and a Celestial Kingdom, and even if Coggins goes there, the Lord will never be able to say that his servant C brought out the best in those he associated with online.

I was at a big company meeting years ago.

As I scurried around looking for a seat, I noticed that the mood of the large crowd of fellow employees was easy going and loose, which was usual.

To my amazement, I came upon a complete row of seats, right behind the front row. Just as I was about to sit down I asked the people in front of me if the seats were taken or reserved. I got no turn around response from any of them. I thought it might be the loud chatter of everyone talking so I asked again loudly.

No response.

Jokingly I yelled "Are you people DEAF???"

STILL NO RESPONSE!

I then walked around to ask them face to face and joked again "Are you DEAF???!!!!".

One of them started to sign to me something in sign language and several hearing employees had taken notice and quickly informed me, "ahhhh yeah... they are DEAF"

While I did feel stupid, it was funny as hell.
