Second Guessing Mormonism

In my participation on this and other boards I have seen a pattern of behavior indicative of the Mormon mindset, that of giving not the opinion held by the pro-mormon defending an indefensible action but the opinion that they SHOULD be feeling. For instance LOAP stated that if the FLDS were to perform dead dunking then she would not be offended. This is an example of the type of attitude I see, wherein the Mormon jumps to a conclusion that places their opinion in the most positive light while betraying what any other human would find offensive.
We see it in denial of social peculiarities such as denial of common opinions and sentiments among LDS, we see it in lack of offense produced by joes behavior, etc etc.
In other words Mormons (and other cults, quasi or hardcore) second guess their opinions in public in order to apear they are normal. These opinions, when called onto the carpet usually fall apart and hints of support for the offensive opinion usually leak through.
