Mormon forum lights up over California gay change

I notice many of my fellow Mormons have been reacting quite negatively, at MAD and LDS Net, to the news
that the California Supreme Court has struck down the ban on Homosexual marriages in that state.
Frankly I am somewhat surprised at their anger. You would think that Richard Nixon had been impeached
all over again.

It really concerned me, that one poster even suggested there should be an earthquake coming in San Francisco.
Why such a reaction? The Church will not be forced to recognize such marriages and Utah is still free to put up
Gay-Free Marriage Zone poster at their borders.

I even suggested on another board, that the Church could hold a protest parade on Haight Street in San Francisco
if it would help them regain their sense of equilibrium.

I think because some folks would like to see their beliefs validated by the God they worship. I'm not entirely certain what I think about Gay marriages. I keep changing my mind...

Worse than what bcspace posted?

China has sunk a remote control 400 megaton dirty nuclear device off the west coast and when it goes off, will cause a radioactive tidal wave that will sweep the entire coast to over 100 miles inland.

That would be counterproductive, because once Long Beach is washed away, where are they gonna offload all the sh*t they sell us?

Canada and most of Europe have allowed gay marriage for some time now. If no glaciers have descended from the north to swallow us up yet, I think that California will survive for a little while longer too.

Some gems from MAD:

DispensatorMysteriorum wrote:California can just fall in the ocean as far as I'm concerned.

BCSpace wrote:Anything in combination with homosexuality is dangerous and destructive.

Paul Ray wrote:I wonder how long it will be before governments of this world will be allowing active criminals to get married and raise children.

BCSpace wrote:A homosexual marriage does not accomplish the purpose of heterosexual marriage, therefore, it is an additional right making it superior in the eyes of the state to heterosexual marriage.

Lachoneus wrote:
Jaybear wrote:[H]omosexual and heterosexual COUPLES do not enjoy exactly the same rights.

Why should they?

Paul Ray wrote:They [homosexuals] are criminals. All who engage in the homosexual lifestyle are breaking the law of God.

Paul Ray wrote:

Yeah, but then they'd go to either paradise, which would be good, or to spirit prison, staying in spirit prison only until they accepted the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

In the end, it would be a good move for them, personally.

Edited to add:

DispensatorMysteriorum wrote:If I were a Californian, I would be ready to take out their supreme court by gun point. It's pure tyranny.

This comment is very disturbing. It makes "Paul Ray" out to be a sociopath. The guy is a time bomb.

Paranoia runs deep in the heartland (which appears to be everywhere except California).

He certainly can come across that way, but having spent quite a bit of time posting with him on MAD, I can't help but think he goes for shock value every now and again. I dunno. Maybe I'm giving him too much credit.

Another amusing Paul Ray nugget from the gay marriage thread:

Paul Ray wrote:
Expositor wrote:It must be difficult for you to function every day in a society that isn't a theocracy.

Yes it is, in some ways, but I don't walk around feeling all mopey or depressed.

LOL

I hope he's putting us all on, because I would hate to have to stop enjoying Paul Ray by taking him at his word....
