The Great Apostasy?

Being raised in the church we came to believe that there was a great apostasy because we were told so in sunday school. We were told that there was a restoration of the Gospel. With that came the adam god theory and other stuff.

We did not know about Clement or those who followed him up until the council of Nicea.

Here is a website with some of the writings of the second, third and fouth generation Christians. When you compare their writings with those of restoration in 1820 through 1920 it seems that the apostasy was more from inside LDS inc. than outside.

Here is a link to the early church writings and fathers:

So you are comparing the Dark ages to the restoration? Please explain what on earth happened between 1820 and 1920 that can come close to the dark ages.

He's not talking about the Dark Ages. He's talking about Christianity in its first two or three centuries.

Oh, sorry. But he did mention the great apostasy and comparing it to 1820-1920, which of course I have always believe the dark ages to be when the great apostasy took place. But of course there was an apostasy withen the LDS Church, it happened when a group of saints traveled to Utah.

What I was trying to say is that it appears that there are letters or writings from people such as Clement, Justin Martyr, Turtullian, Origen, Dionysius, and Eusebius who were real Christians and these guys were great Christians and had the same hope that Paul and Peter had that Jesus would return, punish the wicked, the dead would rise and so on. I guess you can't quote their Christian writings in sacrament meeting because some people will say they are the ones who led the church astray but again, it seems that they were waiting for the end just like first century Christians and wrote similarly to them.

Ooops....I've quoted Clement in Sacrament Meeting. Looks like I'm in trouble.
