Somebody needs to invest in an art director, if you ask me. This looks like the cover to a B Sci Fi movie from the '50s.

And what's the deal with having Ashley Simpson and Krazy Kooter on the cover?
Our own MDB book

I think the critics at MDB should offer a companion volume to this FAIR book, with similarly tacky cover art, and entitle it...
CRAPPY CHURCH SYNDROME

Here's my favorite part of the blurb:
Shaken Faith Syndrome explores how we can be both critical thinkers and devout believers.
Which should read, "Shaken Faith Syndrome explores how we can be both critical thinkers [
about everything excepting Mormonism] and devout believers."

It appears they're running a limited time special:
Retail Price: $19.95
Your Price: Only $19.95
(The retail price had a line drawn through it, but I can't figure out how to do it...)
And yes, the cover is hideous and not in the good way.

As I see the title of this book, "Shaken Faith Syndrome: Strengthening One's Testimony in the Face of Criticism and Doubt" I can only wonder what happened to the famous citations from previous LDS leaders, like:
"If we have the truth, it cannot be harmed by investigation. If we have not the truth, it ought to be harmed."
"If faith will not bear to be investigated; if its preachers and professors are afraid to have it examined, their foundation must be very weak."
". . . convince us of our errors of doctrine, if we have any, by reason, by logical arguments, or by the word of God, and we will be ever grateful for the information, and you will ever have the pleasing reflection that you have been instruments in the hands of God of redeeming your fellow beings from the darkness which you may see enveloping their minds."
So what is Mike's message here? If things are openly investigated, we [i]shouldn't /i] accept the logical conclusions, if that means losing your "faith" in Mormonism? I highly doubt Mike is going to offer answers to the most troubling criticisms that gnaw at members. So I suspect he will try to rationalize why they should still stay active, despite the evidence.
If LDS members are troubled by uncomfortable facts that they have encountered through investigation, should their logical conclusion be welcomed or rejected by LDS apologists? I suspect this is just another version of David Bokovoy's "change your paradigm" philosophy, which essentially states that no matter what evidence you find to the contrary, just change your paradigm so the Church can still be true forever in yoru minds. This pretty much renders the notion of rational thinking an obsolete function.
Good grief.
Or maybe they have come around to accept Hinckley's latest declaration:
"Each of us has to face the matter-either the Church is true, or it is a fraud. There is no middle ground. It is the Church and kingdom of God, or it is nothing."
And maybe they are afraid to face up to the fact that the Church is nothing.

Oh, wow... That cover is just dying for a random /b/tard to make a Pedobear/Chris Hansen meme out of it.

The cover images (which could’ve been used for a volume in the "Left Behind" series) isn't as bad as the title, in my view. "Shaken faith syndrome" sounds too much like "shaken BABY syndrome". :-/
But I am happy for Mike Ash. He is one of my favorite FAIRites to hang with, and seems to be an all-round good guy. He's been in apologetics for many years, and it is high time he put a book out. Mike, if you are listening... Congrats man!
