I am furious.
About three weeks ago I purchased the DVD presentation of Brian Hauglid's KEP presentation during the 2006 conference. After more than a week I emailed to find out what was taking so long and someone emailed me back and said the person in charge of copying a DVD hasn't got around to it yet.
I was anxious to see all the hoopla about Brian's presentation of the "beautiful hi-res digital manuscripts" that allegedly surpassed those on the web and proved that Metcalfe's photos do not give an accurate representation of the manuscripts.
So as I am sitting through twenty minutes of his boring speech, he finally gets to it. Keep in mind that the camera man is Will Schryver and Will directs the camera to the Power Point Presentation every time Brian directs our attention to bullet points.
Eventually Brian starts looking up at the screen and and directs everyone's attention to a manuscript and he "compares" it to the one that has been on the web. I was anxious to see THIS part of teh presentation. Did the video footage show any of it?
NO!!!!!!!!!!!
What he freaking hell? The whole time he is talking and looking up at the pictures, the camera is on him and you can even hear the audience go "ahhhhh" as he is showing them the photos. So why the hell didn't any of this get put on the DVD version of the presentation?
In a couple other instances after this, I was pulling my hair out wanting to see what I paid to see. But instead I got a black screen with white print, poorly done, and clearly edited after the fact (by Will probably) to include a bullet point commentary of what was in reality, more photos of manuscript pages. You could tell he was referencing a photo by what he was saying (I.e "See you can tell by this pne that the lines cross over... " etc) But we see none. And Will has the audacity to claim Brent is hiding portions of the KEP?
If they were going to pull this crap they could have at least warned me before I forked out 12 bucks for nothing.
