For All Dads....

I hope everyone has a wonderful Father's Day tomorrow. I'm signing off so I can preparation hubby's Father's Day dinner for tomorrow so we can eat after Church. The Primary kids are singing in Sacrament Meeting, and I'm playing the piano for them.

Yeah..I can be domestic once in a while. LOL

Here is a poem I found recently. It reminded me of my Dad, and my husband. As I've spoken with many of you here, I have come to admire what good fathers you are.

Enjoy the poem and enjoy tomorrow:

What Makes a Dad

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so,

He called it ... Dad

Sorry, Liz..
But I do have none of those qualities that God bestowed upon fathers.
In fact I might the "Antithesis" of his creation as a Father.
The fact is, I happened to be married & fathered few children.
If there was such think as "Blessing" given to me, it was the woman who raised these kids.
She had endless patience & faith in them. Lo and behold they grew up to be normal people.
They hardly call me (except when they need something).
I am not upset with them, I love them.
But if I have next hundred reincarnation options, I will choose parenthood in none of them.
There's something to be said about being selfish and investing solely into the individual of Thyself..

I absolutely hated attending church on Mothers/Fathers day.
Of course Mothers day took the cake, In the ward there were more than a dozen single women, who never married.
To Bishophorics & Relief Society' credit they did alot to minimize damage, but how can you minimize this kind of damage of failing to become a Mother?

Anyway, I am counting on none of my kids calling me today, because it would be hypocritical thing to do for them; Why the hell they should call me
today, if they didn't bother any spontaneous day?

solomarineris has, in my opinion, missed something.

I don't say this to make him feel bad, but just to encourage any undecided readers of this board into thinking about the possibility that being involved with your children at all stages of their life is a good option for a man to choose.

Chap,
I don't feel bad.
And Liz
My apologies, if I did make you feel bad or gave you the feeling that I hijacked your Post.
It was lovely.
I am, who am I. Days like this brings something nasty out of me.
The medical practice I work, has all female employees, including my wife.
The girls started bugging me days ahead "what are you gonna do for Dr.H, ha?"
these cornucopia of females (they are half of my age) some married, some divorced with nee'r do well dads,
some don't have kids.

PS:
Oh Chap, I forgot to say something about spending time with my children; Not to brag about, I bought this biggest Mac cinema Display,
We go hiking alot, most remote parts of Southwest, they are in it, thousands of them. Hopefully they will appreciate them someday
and show them to their kids
I wrote on the card "I love you all".

It depends on the dad. If someone's dad is an asshat, then it's best for that dad to stay away.

Of course.

If you are an asshat, please disconnect from your kids.

(That is a piece of advice with an interesting logical structure, it seems to me: anyone who actually decides to follow it automatically falls into the category of those to whom it is addressed. Neat. I think that we have a case of 'existential choice' here.)
