Gay Mormon Divorces In California

I've seen the news reports of all these happy couples tying the knot of matrimony in California today with vows of lifetime loyalty and fidelity. Call me skeptical if you wish. But I have a hard time believing its going to be happily-ever-after for all these couples who are so happy today and hopeful for their futures together. For example, you might have a TBM gay marrying a nevermo gay man. With deeply guiltridden fears of the Almighty in their hearts they've stayed celibate. But now the TBM man still desires to remain celibate so he can keep his recommend but the nevermo feels like having consort. The nevermo is frustrated and starts visiting RfM with whines about how his husband is sooo TBM and even fanatically more so now and he's depressed and the love in the relationship is dying as the TBM husband limits their passion to just good firm handshakes. Soon the nevermo is off to see a divorce lawyer and the risk of dissolution is great. What would be the LDS church's counsel in this situation? Get marriage counseling? Get a divorce?

Depends which party is going in for the counseling. The non-member is an idiot for getting married to someone who will not consumate the relationship. If he needs sex, he should find it elsewhere and get a divorce. The LDS man should lose their Temple Recommend for marrying the guy in the first place. The he either needs to terminate the relationship or accept that he will not hold a recommend.

Where is the doctrine that temple recommends cannot be issued to someone who gets married to someone else of the same gender? Its a legal and lawful wedding. And its platonic.

You can lose you temple recommend for smoking a cigarette which is legal and lawful. This court action will not force the Church to recognize the legitimacy of gay marriages on any level.

Yeah, this is what would happen, exposing the current lie that homosexuals are simply held to the same standard as heteros, ie, sex only while married. Certainly the church is opposed to sex outside of marriage, but the church is also simply opposed to homosexuality. They're just trying to be PC and avoid the issue about whether or not gays have a CHOICE (I imagine all the LDS gays who tried to get shocked out of being gay might have an opinion on that issue) to be sexually attracted to the same sex.

Entering into a homosexual relationship, whether it's sexual or not, is a problem in the LDS faith. Sex is not a big dark line you have to cross.
