I think it's just a representation of a guy who takes the board too seriously.
Just my 2 cents.
I don't care for the blood, but I like the part where the eyeballs fly out. But I would.

I don't really like his avatar, and try to avoid looking at it when I'm reading posts. That's coming from a guy who has played many video games where other players are blown up in "pink mist" type rocket explosions and the like, so go figure.
