This strikes me as a bit creepy.
"Enough rope to hang himself" comes to mind.
It shouldn't happen, I think, secondary to the commendable dogma of separation of Church and State. Why should my state encourage me to advertise my religious beliefs on my state-mandated license plate?
Also, I really hope no Muslim takes advantage of the potential new "freedom" to self-identify as an adherent to Islam via his license plate.
