In this era of technology and information explosion I am amazed that there are still people who believe this crap.

I guess suckers will always exist and charlatans will always be available to take advantage of them, regardless of the information or technology available.

I am glad I do not live in a place full of religious nutjobs.

I must admit I enjoyed the MAD thread wherein Mormons mocked faith healers like Benny Hinn. (called "Benny's Prophecy") Mind you, I mock Hinn as well, but then I don't pretend that my religion ought not to be mocked as well.

The irony of seeing a Mormon believer say this:

Benny Hinn is evidence that there are large numbers of gullible people in the world. There are also large numbers of people who, if you manage to play on their hopes, will suspend critical thinking in deference to that hope. Hucksters like Benny recognize that and play to it.

is worth reading the thread for no other reason. But it is also funny to see them criticize Hinn and others for not making their finances public.

This is exactly why MAD has to keep the number of active TBMs much higher than the number of critics - they wouldn't be happy if ten Mighty Cureloms were making comments like this one:

Full Disclosure: I'm one of those "religious nutjobs," though I do try to sprinkle my pre-scientific worldview with the occasional dose of rationality.

(Bentley, by the way, is one of the most extreme of these sorts I've ever seen.)
