I don't even know what to say about this.

I thought I was past being surprised but nope... I found this at RFM.

Just a little quote about the church and prop 8, from this man's blog....

As it turned out, when the SP sat down with us, it was actually about making a contribution– a rather sizable contribution. He already had a figure in mind. Interestingly, the Mrs. and I both heard the figure in our heads before he said it. I asked if all the members were being asked for the same figure, and he admitted they weren’t. We told him we’d talk about it and would let him know if we’d send it or an alternative amount. He agreed and left a donation form for ProtectMarriage.com which asks you to submit, among other things, your name, and the name of your ward and stake.

How ridiculous.

Of COURSE an hour after they sent the check, the phone rings with good news. I'm pretty sure God was causing a stupor of thought for the banker, right until the check was sent, then the banker had a moment of clarity!

God is quite the extortionist.

Money, obedience, control, authority, patriarchy, old white men in stuffy suits.

Or you could believe that God sees all presents in an eternal now and acts based on what you did before you did it.

Amazingly on that same blogsite named "Nine Moons", one of these nine moons is a man named Silus Grok. Read his bio:
I’m a happy man. I’m richly and undeservedly blessed with the Gospel in my life, friends, a curious mind, work I love, and the time and predilection to follow my heart down less-trodden paths.

I’m also a gay man — and I’m okay with that. I’m no more broken than the next guy, and have no less a claim to the blessings of the Gospel or to life’s amazing bounty. And while I would love to grow old with a husband, I’m willing to forego that for continued membership in the Kingdom of God on Earth.

by the way, the latter part of Seth's blog(the one who donated the money to beat up gay marriages) claims that the after he dropped his prop 8 check in the mail, his realtor called to tell him that he got the house(on short sale) that he and his wife wanted! What a BLESSING!!(puke)
This morning we dropped the check into the mailbox and not an hour later our realtor called to say we got the house.

It was an amazing testiimony of obedience and proving the Lord. It was a request we didn’t like and a gesture that wasn’t easy to perform. And yet, by not tarrying we were quickly blessed with the very thing we needed and longed for.
I am 110% sure he would have still received the call on the house regardless of if or when he paid his prop 8 check. What a tool.

Isn't there a problem with maintaining tax exempt status if a church does this?
I have no idea but kinda thought that....

Making such connections is magical thinking. This testimony is basically the same as the testimonies one gets with adverts for pyramid schemes, cults, gurus and new age medical procedures.

Give money to me and I promise you will be blessed. Try it!

As I recall, this extends only to political candidates, not issues. Just as it should be.

Only to those who don't apply the scientific test of faith or who refuse to grow faith into a perfect knowledge.

What evidence do you give for you pov besides your own testimony? Besides my own testimony, I have all the witnesses of the scriptures and the prophets.
