For you TBM's, are you watching the olympics right now? Or do you consider that sabbath breaking?

I am watching now. I consider watching it on Sunday to be breaking the letter of the law but obeying the spirit of the law.

Just out of interest, Henry Marsh (a Mormon, and grandson of Henry D. Moyle), once the holder of the US 3,000 meter steeplechase record, competed on Sundays. He never trained on Sundays, however. In view of the Olympic timetables, I think this is justifiable. (And the film "Chariots of Fire", which immortalised Eric Liddell for not competing on Sunday, was in fact some Hollywood licence.)

I believe LDS runners, like Doug Padilla, did compete on Sundays though. Padilla was a top 5k and 10k runner, and most of those races were on Sundays. I wouldn't put the sledgehammer to them. So I think Mormons who watch the Olympics on Sunday should make their own personal decision about that.

Two words: STEVE YOUNG.

LOL, given his day job exempting him from wearing the garments, to him they truly were Jesus JAMMIES as the only time he wore them(if at all when he was single) was at night.

I remember Marvin J. Ashton when he was in Sydney, in the late '70s, telling a stake conference that he had enjoyed the morning reading the SUNDAY PAPERS (heretic alert!!!).

Henry Moyle was not averse to breaking the Sabbath, either. Henry Marsh once told the story of his grandfather buying his grandchildren ice cream on Sunday.

But I really don't care. If nothing else, it just shows that not all Mormons think that oxen should be left to die because it's the Sabbath.

Some would some would not. My view... which is worst... watching the Olympics on Sunday or not doing your home teaching. It is all a matter of perspective.

I don't think either one of them is "worse", because I don't think there's anything wrong with either one of them in the first place.

Watching the Olympics on Sunday is only a made-up wrong. Its sinfulness, or even potential sinfulness, is an invention of the human mind. And so is the obligation to go visit two or three families once a month.

The only gold medalist I've been able to find is VILI Valerie from New Zealand in the women's shot put. She's 6' 4" and 242 lbs. Women should shortly have the priesthood.

It is worth of sabbath breaking.
