Inspired Constitution
But another reason is that the secret combination corrupts the hearts of all the people so there are no righteous left. Little children growing up in a society which has been corrupted by the secret combinations have no opportunity to learn the truth and so the Lord puts an end to such a people. Only eight adults survived the flood; two survived the Jaredite destruction and only one righteous man survived the war which destroyed the Nephites.

Sure, I can see how China or Russia's communism don't let people grow up knowing God, but I don't see how that's somehow inherently true of communism nor of socialistic societies. Maybe I'm just deceived . . .

Man, why does every Mormon think official doctrine supports their hobby horse?

True on multiple levels. lol

It's inherent because socialism requires a dictatorship. Can one living under socialism freely choose to get out of it? No, one can't. What about one living under Consecration? Yes, one can.

There are more detailed reasons, but the bottom line is socialism inherently curtails agency. It has nothing to do with knowing God.

Man, why does every Mormon think official doctrine supports their hobby horse?

But can they demonstrate it?

You're telling me that the citizens of Europe aren't free to move to other countries?

There'd better be more reasons because I don't buy the lack of agency thing when it comes to socialism--at least not as it is practiced in Europe with socialized medicine.

But can they demonstrate it?

Depends on who the Judge is, I suppose.

Hi A-man, an interesting site of Babel-gook meant to impress the fearful & ignorant. A group that pridefully constitutes, I respectfully suggest the larger cohort of American society, crossing all socio-economic lines. They tend to paranoia as well illustrated in their outright fear of, "Secret Societies". Otherwise known, first as Communism, now as Socialism.

Particularly has Mormonism fostered this paranoia, AND prospered by doing so. Ezra T Benson being a most noteable advocate of fear. Seems, in these pseudo Christians, FEAR Trump's FAITH at every turn of a card.

As for a real "SECRET SOCIETY"?!? It is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA!!! And has close to 200 special meeting places ... "TEMPLES"... world wide where their "Secrets" are indulged in exclusively within a select group sworn to "Secrecy"!!

I am particularly interested in, and obviously excited by :-0) this topic as I have recently been reading several LDS Church books dealing with this LDS paranoia in the '50s. Joining the church in 1955 as a rather unschooled, ambitious and aspiring young man-- in Canada where we have our own concerns-- I paid little attention to US/LDS political ravings.

But now, reading what "our Prophet" silver haired, David O. McKay had to say re social-political issues I am appalled by his parochial fear & ignorance. Where once I had no question of him being in touch with God as a Prophet. "...why just look at him, he exudes divinity...!"

Now I know that was not the case. He was just another handsome, well groomed man I was taught to consider as God's spokesman. And, I mistakenly did.

Maybe I'll get into this absurd LDS fear of Socialistic policies later. I think the obvious crisis America is in now might be related to their arrogance & ignorance. Unfortunately they have come to over balance their generousity and good intentions...

Roger's ramble...

Below this piece of misinformation of BCS, via LDS indoctrination re Socialistic policies, as they are demonized by LDS Inc, and others of such prejudicial ignorance, is pasted a bio-bit of J.S. Woodword. It came via Google, where there is more to be found...

Please read it to be informed of those who recognize(d) the "Social Gospel" was/is what Jesus taught. "The Good-news" is that the goodness of humanity Trump's the evils of humanity when the correct master is served. Unfortunately for 2,000+/- years we have attempted to serve both God & Mammon, against the advice of the teacher who warned otherwise...

Sure, I can see how China or Russia's communism don't let people grow up knowing God, but I don't see how that's somehow inherently true of communism nor of socialistic societies. Maybe I'm just deceived . . .

James Shaver Woodsworth, Methodist minister, social worker, politician (b at Etobicoke, Ont 29 July 1874; d at Vancouver 21 Mar 1942). First leader of the CO-OPERATIVE COMMONWEALTH FEDERATION (CCF), he was the best known of the reform-minded SOCIAL GOSPEL ministers and led many of them into the politics of democratic socialism. Woodsworth moved to Brandon, Man, in 1885 where his father became superintendent of Methodist missions in the Northwest. Ordained in 1896, he spent 2 years as a Methodist circuit rider in Manitoba and a further 2 years studying at Victoria College and Oxford.
Observing the grim results of industrial capitalism in Canada and Britain, Woodsworth concluded that his church's stress upon personal salvation was wrong. Moving from middle-class pulpits to a city mission, All People's, Winnipeg, he worked with immigrant slum dwellers 1904-13. At the same time he wrote extensively, expounding the "social gospel" - a creedless movement calling for establishment of the Kingdom of God "here and now." By 1914 he had become a controversial supporter of trade-union collective bargaining and an ardent democratic socialist - on Fabian and British Labour Party lines. He was also adamantly pacifist, seeing war as a product of capitalist and imperial competition, and he was fired from a governmental social-research position in 1917 for openly opposing CONSCRIPTION. In 1918 he resigned the ministry in protest against church support of the war. To support his young family he joined a longshoremen's union and worked for a year on the Vancouver docks.

* * *

The CCF continued to be led for many years by men with similar back grounds. That party's consistent efforts, under the influence of Tommy Douglas, brought Universal Health Care to the Canadian public.

It is sad to see such social untruth come from those claiming the only, and whole truth. It brings into serious consideration the spirit and purpose that directs such thinking...
IF I believed in the Devil Satan, I might make a suggestion...

Respectfully, Roger
