It's nice to see the Church finally admit it gets involved in "political issues" -- the Brethren usually refer to "moral issues."

No, I just don't think he should have the ability to fight against an organization while using his membership in the organization as part of his stance. Listen to the beginning of the video. First thing he does is give his name and his position as if they mean something to what he has to say. THEY DON'T. I encourage his use of free speech and if he feels the need to oppose Prop 8 go for it. DON'T use your membership in the Church as some kind of authority and DON'T try to usurp Priesthood keys to declare policy.

He is not obeying the covenants he made to enter the Church and shows no inclination to bring himself to do so. By doing so he forfeits his right to be in the Church. I applaud the local leaders taking steps to ratify his decision.

When the rich man came to the Savior and found him in keeping with the commandments and then gave him one last command to follow the man went away sorrowing unable at that time to keep that commandment. If the Savior were more liberal he might have proposed less harsh terms or offered a more reasonable solution or perhaps pointed out that as he was keeping all the rest of God's commands this one was not that important.

Then include yourself, and everyone else, in your "Bye ...." sarcasm, because none of us can or will live a perfect life. Besides, the only "sin" for which the signingforsomething.com owner is being called to a court is daring to speak his mind on a legal issue and civil right.

Sorry, Rollo, but I could barely handle listening to the first half of this guy's video. His points were scattered, and all over the place.

He also seemed to be very focussed on the SCMC. Is he related to Scratch? ;) (Just kidding, Scratch...love ya!)

As far as the issue of excommunication....I don't think it is right for the Church to excommunicate someone based on their political view. They make a blanket statement over the pulpit that the First Presidency encourages members to register to vote, and vote their conscience.
