I'm not usually awake by this time during conference, but I was having so much fun making fun of the YW general president and the poor schmuck who drew the talk after hers, that I was still awake for Pres Monson's talk. I thought it was GREAT!
Among other things he said, he said to not live for tomorrow, because all you'll have is bunch of empty yesterdays. What a great quote!
I also thought it was interesting that when BYU TV flashed his name on the screen it said President, not Prophet.

From what I understand, the title on tv is practically always listed as president.
I liked the talk, as well. I also thought Pres. Dalton's talk was pretty good.

What did the YW general president say that was so "make fun of" worthy? (I didn't see the talk, of course.)

That was from "The Music Man":
Marian Paroo: No, please, not tonight. Maybe tomorrow.
Harold Hill: Oh, my dear little librarian. You pile up enough tomorrows, and you'll find you are left with nothing but a lot of empty yesterdays. I don't know about you, but I'd like to make today worth remembering.

I used to avoid Monsons talks because I always felt he was too warm and fuzzy for my taste. I always prefered someone like Packer, and I especially like Holland.
But Monsons talk this morning really was great. I wish more people really would be more happy with what they already have. One of the guys at work was mentioning how bad the economy is and how much trouble we are in, this after just telling everyone how he had spent $400.00 on his grocery trip the night before! I asked how bad of an economy do you really think we have when you just visited a grocery store with its shelves full of everything your heart could desire, and you felt confortable enough with your finances to unload that much money for your family of 5.
When Americans stop being fat and start turning in our cell phones and shutting off our cable tv's. Then Ill worry.
Nice to hear you say somethign positive about one of the brethren Harmony. Thank you.

I didn't like her at all. The beginning of her talk was all about
her and how
special she is and how she and her presidency hiked up to the top of the mountain for their first
meeting and how
special that was. Bleah.
It was enough to gag a maggot.

I say lots positive things about the Brethren and the rest of the GA's. Whenever they do or say something that is worthwhile, I say positive things. Unfortunately, they don't do or say much that qualifies as worthwhile very often.

Ha! yeah, it sure was about a con man. Perfect!
Yet, if apologetics has taught us anything, it's that con men can also speak the truth. If you believe Richard Bushman, a con man could even be raised up as the mouthpiece of God and the restorer of a One True Church. A con man like Joseph Smith could be just the right person to bring about Heavenly Father's plan for a latter day Marvelous Work and a Wonder.

I liked it. It reminded me of my first district meeting where we hiked up to the top of a mountain and held it in the chapel of an old castle.
I also experienced no gag reflex though I did throw a few things at my little sister to wake her up during the talk.
