Hey everyone! I've got some bad news!
Yahoo is holding our domain name hostage! When we first bought mormondiscussions.com, we went with yahoo because they were offering domains for 6.95 per year. Wonderful! Amazing! Great! LIES!!!!
Yahoo has recently decided to change their domain renewal fee to $50!! AND they didn't tell us this at all until a whopping 2 weeks before the domain was set to expire.
We're currently trying to transfer the domain to our own servers, but now Yahoo has locked it and is holding it hostage until we renew it. They won't let me even change my e-mail address on the domain!
Now, don't you worry, I WILL get this domain renewed and transferred to our own DNS servers, even if I have to go panhandle out by walmart to get the cash, but any help would be appreciated. If you would like to help out, send anything you can by paypal to
keenemaverick@gmail.com.
Thanks, your ever-loving admin, Keene

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a new domain and tell Yahoo where to stick it? I don't like negotiating with buisnesses who take hostages especially when it's something as poentially trivial as a domain name.

1 year. Just about everywhere else charges $10 for a year, yahoo's just being a bitch.

Yes, but if we let the domain expire, than anyone else, including all of mormondiscussions enemies have a chance to buy it first. It looks like there's already a couple people who've put their finger on the domain. We have to renew before they get ahold of it.

I am confused.
Updated Date: 07-oct-2007
Creation Date: 27-jul-2005
Expiration Date: 27-jul-2010
Are you talking about the hosting fee?
The domain name does not expire for another two years.
Additionally, the DNS servers for mormondiscussions.com is not Yahoo, but dreamhost.com.
Name Server.......... ns1.dreamhost.com
Name Server.......... ns2.dreamhost.com
Name Server.......... ns3.dreamhost.com
Is Dreamhost where the site is hosted?

That's exactly how Yahoo is holding it hostage. They've registered it, but have locked me out of any management until I pay their extortion fees. According to them it's "past due," and they've refused all my attempts to transfer registrars.
Are you talking about the hosting fee?
No, the hosting is provided free by Covert Mind LLC.

Yes. I've tried to transfer the registration to both dreamhost and fastdomain (I get it free at fastdomain since I work there), but Yahoo refuses to release it.

Thus my plan to destroy this site continues.
My father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate works for Yahoo and I just had to say the word.
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.
