Oops, another state overturns gay marriage ban

I guess the cat is out of the bag. Now it's Connecticut. Is the LDS church going to get all 15 of their active members in Connecticut out in the street to fight this?

And, I have to wonder, did the LDS church put its people and its peoples' money to work in Canada overturning gay marriage there? What about in other countries? Is it just in the USA, and just in California, that the LDS church feels it can flex its awesome power to try to do the Lords work in sticking it to the gays?

This is a fight the LDS church won't win. More and more countries will allow gay marriage, and I predict that CA and CT won't be the last states in the US to do so. In 20 years this will probably be pretty ho-hum, and if the LDS church is still out rattling chains and cages over this issue, it'll just look a quaint.

I wonder at what point the Federal government will mandate gay right's? I can see some states here in the Southeast holding out for a very long time. Places like South Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, etc. have similar Mormon cultural norms and Conservative politicos are entrenched throughout their legal and judicial systems.

The only thing that will get a state to come around, normally, is money. Hold that sweet, sweet Federal money back and it's amazing how enlightened people can get.

Think it would work for MA, CA, and CT?

The Northeast is going straight to hell in a handbasket; as you can plainly see, Satan has us firmly in his demonic and gay-marriage-loving grip, as these pictures I took of my town only days ago will clearly show:

The disintegration of families, the lawlessness, the horrid eating of live kittens and puppies and toddlers in public; it's only days away from you, too, if you accept the deep and everlasting perversion of gay marriage into YOUR state.

EDITED TO ADD: Oh, and we're all voting for Obama, too.

New Hampshire allows gay marriage?

Not yet, so that's why I said this:

It's only a matter of time until New Hampshire and Vermont follow suit with their neighbors. The point is, though, that life will go on. Even though religious people, who follow the dictates of some angry desert god from five thousand years ago, cannot tell grown adults what they are allowed to do in their own bedrooms, innocent kittens and toddlers and apple pie will all still be safe.

Call us in the Northeast a social experiment, and see how absolutely nothing has changed for us, except that gay people now have the right to expect to be treated as their fellow human beings are treated.

Money helps, as would an armed invasion of righteous shock troops.

When I read this I had to do a double take checking to see if by some freak cyber accident, the avatar had been attached to one of the other poster's writing.

I think it will take far less than twenty years. What strikes me as peculiar, is the LDS church is th only major christian sect actively opposing gay marriage rights, that has a recent and strained view of what God views is acceptable as a marriage union - polygamy. The LDS church practiced plural marriage in opposition to the law of the land, and continued the marriages even after it had publicly announced its cessation of the practice.

In coming years, the church is going to be a public target in regards to this issue, as it has unwittingly painted a bullseye on its back. Polygamy will again take center stage as a perfect example of hypocrisy. I think the church's plural marriage exposure in the public eye will easily surpass the FLDS hubbub from the past.

Perhaps the church should not wait to find itself as the last state in the union to allow gay marriage.

Speaking of New England, The New England Patriots lost earlier tonight within San Diego in Football, to the San Diego Chargers.

Yeah!!! :)

Anyway, I think that the State of Vermont will legally allow Gay Marriages way before the State of New Hampshire does, mainly because Vermont is quite a lot more of a Liberal State than the State of New Hampshire is.
