Ray,
I think you need to allow for 3 selections as it's grouped:
How much do I know about FARMS
Do I like FARMS
Do I agree with x/y about FARMS.

It's a freaking cabal of intellectual assassins. I read the review of "Voices from the Dust: New Insights into Ancient America.", and the bottom line is the reviewer (Brant Gardner) relentlessly attacks the author because he doesn't share FARMS' version of Mormonicity. The author, a faithful Mormon, is hacked to death because he's a chapel Mormon.
What a farce.
So. Let's compare David Calderwood, the author and faithful chapel Mormon to his assassin, Brant Gardner.
David Calderwood:
For 25 years he was a career diplomat, a foreign service officer, and spent many years of his diplomatic career serving in Argentina, Panama, Paraguay, Surinam, Ecuador, and Chile. In more than 30 years of Government service, he has traveled extensively throughout Latin America and Europe.
Mr. Calderwood retired in October 1996 and moved to Texas where he enrolled in the prestigious Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS) at the University of Texas at Austin. He obtained a Master of Art’s degree in Latin American Studies, specializing in the Spanish and Portuguese Chronicles. Over the years, he has accumulated copies of more than 70 chronicles and undoubtably has one of the largest private collections of modern copies of these rare and valuable New World Chronicles of any historian in the United States. He also obtained a minor in Art History, focusing on the Chavin and Moche civilizations in Peru and the Maya and Aztec civilizations in Mexico.
During the last 30 years, he has given numerous lectures in the United States and Latin America on the Book of Mormon and the New World chronicles. He has made extensive studies of the Spanish and Portuguese chroniclers and has written a compendium on many of these early American historians for publication.
Mr. Calderwood has always been an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has held numerous Church positions in both Latin America and in the United States. He has served as a Bishop and as a Counselor in a Stake Presidency. He is married and is the father of six children.
Mr. Gardner:
(MA, SUNY, Albany) is a consultant for a privately held software firm in New York. He has published articles on Nahuatl mythology and kinship and has "formal training" in Mesoamerican studies.
That's it. And Mr. Gardner has the balls to sit in judgement of Mr. Caldwell's work? “F” him. Asshole. “F” FARMS and BYU, and by extension the very church that Mr. Caldwell loves and faithfully serves for allowing all his hard work and dedication to be panned by some asshat with an axe to grind.
What shame.

Which demonstrates quite conclusively and unmistakably what a warped little place this is.
Mercifully, we're talking about a very, very small population.

Consistent with the interest generated by the Book of Mormon historicity works of FARMS.

Hopefully, though, you won't stop posting. You've undeniably created a lot more interest of late.
