So what if they teach about homosexual marriage in school?

Why do the narrow minded fools assume if something is taught in school the kids will believe and FOLLOW it?

For cripessakes, they teach about evolution and yet most kids do not graduate from HS as atheists.

Besides that, the kids watch TV shows/movies and listen to music which feature homosexual lifestyles. in my opinion they are influenced by that more than what they get from the schools.

According to Mormons and xtians, these gay couples are already sinning and living together. Most are open about that within their communities, so who gives a fly flip if they want to get the piece of paper that proves their devotion to each other.

in my opinion the Mormon church has a deeper hidden agenda with Prop 8 and it has nothing to do with morality.

As far as I know, we don't teach heterosexual marriage in the public school system. Granted, I'm not in California, but I know we don't teach it here.

What do you think is the church's agenda?

I agree that teens (specifically) are far more heavily influenced by the media than what is taught to them in school. As for teaching about homosexual marriage in school, in my own district...

I don't know that we teach it.

:-)

At their core it is always about money.

I believe LDS Inc orchestrated the entire Prop 8 and just pulled in other unwitting religions as a smoke screen.

Perhaps they are hoping for a one two punch? Make this an unifying activity for the current membership(like what the WoW did) and then use it as a beacon in an attempt to lure in fresh meat from other xtian sects?

At the end of the day, LDS Inc views all marriages as invalid that are officiated outside of their masonic temples. So straight or gay marriage is equally less in their view.

Perhaps they are also afraid that gay marriage will waterdown the membership and thereby affect their billion of dollars in tithes that they receive TAX FREE?

It's always about money for the schools, too.

What I think is the most interesting about those who are yanking their kids from school over this. The "highest risk" of being exposed to this kind of "teaching" is in the bay area. Well, there is a greater rationale for having some kind of mention about the phenomena of same-sex couples given the much higher frequency that children are going to ecounter it there. If you move to Utah, expect more mention of Mormonism in history classes than other places because, well, it's relevant.

These parents have willingly made a decision to live in a community with a large number of gays. Why? More than often because of the money, there is a hell of a lot of it in that area. The parents want their 150k/year job that would be half that most other places, they know the demographics, they know the probability of seeing a SS couple holding hands in public is much higher than in Provo, and I'm sorry, but it just makes a certain amount of sense that the phenomena would get some mention in school.

So really, they are screwing their own kids over in pursuit of their careers. They want to go out everyday into the heart of Babylon, with all the money and wealth, soak it up, and then hide their kids in the corner because of the associated "evils".

Well, I do believe in Human Evolution, However I am Definitely NOT an Atheist. I Believe in Theistic Evolution. I am a strong Believer in the Lord God, and I am a strong Believer in Life after Death.

There is a tiny, tiny informal cult of self hating bigots who's self hatred is expressed in hatred of the Gospel of Christ and, to a substantial extent it seems, everything that is good. This tiny coterie of bigots congregate in forums such as this, where some members of the Church who participate now and then can effortlessly see them for what they are.

We are here faced with yet another.

Welcome to the Hanger 18 of religious discourse.

How so?

Temple marriage is the ONLY approved method. All others fall short of the deification of the man and multiplication of his wife.
