Quick! someone block me!

Post by _Mercury »

My return to Shady acres finds the Gestapo have taken residence. Responding to inane and insensitive remarks is now useless as the block feature has been put in place.

For reference to similar topics, please google the terms "how to remove discourse between differing opinions" and "echo chamber".

Thank you. We have always been at war with Eurasia. Chocolate rations have been increased yet again. Remember to eliminate the Orgasm from your life. That is all.

Oh whatever. The ignore feature doesn't permanently block anyone from doing anything. You can still read a person's remarks by clicking into their post and they are free to reply to you.

Has nothing to do with "responding to inane and insensitive remarks is now useless". You can respond till your fingers fall off, Mercury.

I think it has more to do with not wanting to wade through repetitive useless remarks by some folks.

Jersey Girl is right. You can continue to reply to inane and insensitive remarks to your heart's content.

I think it's the fact that people don't have to read the inane remarks anymore that rankles. Most of the people against the ignore feature are those same people who will throw out a bunch of bovine fecal matter and pictures of people in underwear vomiting instead of having an actual discussion. Instead of admitting the discussion or debate is over their heads, they resort to calling people cunts, posting rude pictures, and picking on mentally disabled people...and saying it's ok.

And folks say I crave attention...well, it's true, I do.

Sam,

You have written a remarkable and even handed commentary regarding the cow crap that regularly comes across my screen.

Love it!

I second Mercurys remarks.

The ignore feature is a bad thing.

I don't use the ignore function and I may be in a bubble but I don't think I post the most offensive stuff but I know I am prone to inappropriate humor at times.

I choose to do the ignore function in my head.
I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably.

It's kind of like filtering out spam or whatever. Would you put a filter on your kids computer and how is the ignore on this board any different?

Jersey,

I haven't reached the point at my house where I need kid filters yet, but I suppose Ill need to look into that soon.

On this board theres not much kid traffic that I am aware of. I just think that the adults here are mature enough to skip a post if they don't want to read it. Ignoring all posts by individuals I think degrades the experience of visitors here.
