I thought the same thing after Prop. 8 passed. ;)

Hmm, so you didn't change your post to one less snarky. Oh well, I'll leave mine then, too.

If someone is editing his posts behind the scenes, that's pretty bogus. It undermines the trust we have that our views are represented accurately when we post them.

Time for digital signatures. Then if the post is edited, it can be detected. Mhalcrow at MADB was notorious for this, but now we can see why.

What would be really trippy is if the "fake" Bob is the one making the snarky posts and the "real" Bob is the one making the apologies.

Are you suggesting a mod is editing your posts??

I find that HIGHLY unlikely, unless it is simply to fix a broken quote or edit a swear word. (which I do fairly frequently).

But never content.

Anytime a mod touches someone's post, even if it is to bleep out "offensive" language (which I don't totally endorse, by the way), that mod should put in an appropriate note explaining what was done, and include his/her name. We need to trust in the integrity of our posts. Nobody should be able to muck with another poster's postings without full disclosure.

Based on rcrocket's comments on another thread, it would appear that his faux moderator comments have been removed. That's editing content, if true.

As an aside, I recall that a mod has objected to rcrocket's use of faux mod comments. Ask around, and see what you find.

Skippy, we don't generally note when we change minor things like editing a swear word or fixing a quote vortex.

If it is something larger, like removing a posters personal information, we will leave a note as to who did it and why.

You just modified my post!

LOL...I KNOW!!!

The "Edit Post" and "Quote" buttons are right next to each other, and I accidentally hit the "Edit" button instead of "Quote".

The irony is palpable!! Sorry about that Skippy...I tried to fix it back before you noticed.

As for Bob's mod impersonations, I'll let Shades tackle that one.
