Oh, I don't know. Maybe he has no experience; perhaps he only saw the standard, run-of-the-mill porn and just assumed it was "the most discusting [sic] hardcore porn imaginable" since he didn't know any better. But I'm just speculating.

Back to the topic, though, I'm totally confused. Rather than require some kid to kick porn-watchers off of computers, wouldn't it have been ten times easier to just block the library server from accessing porn sites??

When I have worked for a multi (it was the Siemens but this is not the proper place for an ad ...) I couldn't download true type fonts from virginia.edu, and couldn't read "Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet" of ETB from http://speeches.BYU.edu/reader/reader.php?id=6751

I wonder why so many non-Mormons need to access porn through the library?

Don't they have their own connections at home? Or are these all those who have left the church and thus become penniless, no longer able to afford even a dial-up connection and left with nothing but a seat at the computer pool in the library.

If that is not a warning to those who were maybe thinking of leaving the church, I don't know what is?

A few weeks ago Mormons were overtaken by a storm of gossip about apocalyptic remarks supposedly made by Boyd K Packer at a stake conference in Utah. The official response from the Church was a warning to members about the innacurate nature of second/third-hand rumors, and a reminder that a message to one congregation may not be meant for all Mormons to hear. If they wanted a message to go to the whole church, then they would give it in the semi-annual General Conference.

So now we have Joseph Antley over on the Mormon Apologetics and Discussion Board doing the same thing or worse:

whisper... whisper... DC45:13 is a prophesy about latter day pornography... whisper... whisper... person A says it came from person B who was talking to person C at the time...

Or maybe the scourge is making stupid, baseless assumptions about vague, generic passages written almost 2 centuries ago and pretending it's "inspiration" or "revelation."

Another example of interpreting vague scripture to mean something specific. In the 50s, this scripture could've been a prophecy of communism. It could also be used against homosexuality. Anything that the church thinks is evil can be the "scourge" and "sickness" in that scripture.
