Over on the aptly named MADboard, The Good Professor is have a merry laugh over his "pals" antics:

Daniel Peterson wrote:In my experience, every encounter with Matt Paulson leads to a surge in spirituality, intelligence, and wisdom. I also found that my stock investments always performed better in the immediate aftermath of an exchange with him.

Quite a number of years ago, Mr. Paulson attempted correspondence with me. That he's now emitted a book represents a triumph of the art of editing, a demonstration of the possibility of creation ex nihilo. And somebody, somewhere, deserves a gold star on his or her forehead for the achievement.

The syntax, grammar, and spelling of the Paulson epistles were so . . . um, unique that a pair of my colleagues, who had also been reading them, actually sat down and concocted a forged Paulson letter to me while I was living in Jerusalem back in 1993, and I fell for it, hook, line, and sinker.

Very interesting. (A) DCP's "colleagues" (probably l-skinny participants) "forged" this letter. Critics have frequently speculated that the so-called 2nd Watson Letter was also "forged"---perhaps by the same colleagues. Will DCP tell us who these "colleagues" were? Let it be known that Bill Hamblin dropped in on this thread in order to yuk it up. (B) DCP "fell for it, hook, line, and sinker." Need we say anything more?

Also: shouldn't The Good Professor be a bit more charitable to Pauson's writing skills, in lieu of some of those first, error-riddled copies of the Book of Mormon?

"Humble apologetics" at its best.

You don't know that. Do you think Daniel only hangs around with a limited group of colleagues?

..."forged" this letter.

Sounds more like a joke than a forgery. You know... a joke between friends, rather than a forgery to try to fool strangers.

Not a chance in hell.

Let it be known that Bill Hamblin dropped in on this thread in order to yuk it up.

Not surprising.

(B) DCP "fell for it, hook, line, and sinker." Need we say anything more?

Either it was a good joke, or Daniel needs to polish his urim and thummim.

Also: shouldn't The Good Professor be a bit more charitable to Pauson's writing skills, in lieu of some of those first, error-riddled copies of the Book of Mormon?

You know Joseph gets a free pass on everything, Scratch. Joseph did what Joseph did and was/is revered. Anyone else doing what Joseph did is soundly criticized. It's the nature of apologetics.

It's a stunning admittance, Mister Scratch, and one can only wonder if these kinds of crafty skills have have been put to work elsewhere.
