Anyway, now that DCP is back, there are threads going again that actually show some sign of life. If DCP didn't post here, this place would shrivel up and die.

Yes, DCP keeps a certain kind of thread alive. He almost never participates in a thread that doesn't revolve around him. This used to disappoint me but now I ignore him and the threads that revolve around him. So, if you like page after page of personality drama, if you like to see threads being sucked into a vortex of umbrage, then he's a good character to have around I guess. But he only comes around to defend his ego from Scratch and a few others.

Substantive, serious, non-polemical discussions here are so rare as to be effectively non-existent.

When there's a serious, fair-minded discussion of something in which I'm interested, I'll be happy to join in. But I won't hold my breath in the meantime.

Oh, I think I'm right. For example, while you were gone, poor ole Scratch seemed like a ship without a sail or a rudder, casting aimlessly about for someone to smear. In fact, it got so bad that he turned his efforts to trying to out Obiwan (poster on MAD) as someone that once viewed porn. Sad, really. Now that you are back, Scratch has regained his mojo.

Gone is all the nasty anti-mo infighting about who sexually harrassed who, who is the bigger cyber pervert, how much moderation of cyber perverts should be allowed, etc. Now, the anti-mos common enemy, DCP - the face of Mopologetics, is back. Ah, the flowers are in bloom, the sun is out, and all is right in anti-mo land.

I do think you're right with regard to poor Mister Scratch. I'm his raison d'etre.

It's an interesting theory, but all theories must be evaluated. The board got some more life when Shades decided to listen to opinions and change it, albeit only on a one month trial. I've been a strong critic of the board myself, but you have to admit, this place can be addictive, and DCP has evacuated and come back at least as many times as I have. Even DCP has admitted as much. Here is what he is reported as saying to Mormon Times:

Not quite. It was noted in the past, and in the recent discussion that it was only about a small number of people. You should also note that some Mormon male posters were implicated in this.



It's really the other way around, if this place didn't exist DCP would have no critical board to go on, because he'd probably be booted off most of them in a short time. His exmo zoology studies would come to an end as far as field experience is concerned.
