As a kind of belated Christmas gift, I received the following bit of information from a very reliable informant. Over on the aptly named MADboard, Professor Peterson has issued yet another plug for a book that he likes:

Already, this post is interesting. Here we have someone, apparently a friend of The Good Professor's, who was "kicking about" an apparently unpopular manuscript, and whose book embraced a theory which (coincidentally?) manages to support certain Mopologetic claims. Furthermore, one of DCP's friends helped to get the book published.

Intriguingly---and perhaps do to his network of "associates"---DCP was not required to pay the full price:

I have to say, there are an awful lot of astonishing coincidences here. One wonders if Mopologetics is possible *without* a network of "back-slapping bros."

I'm flipping through The Temple by Edersheim and can think of several arguments with which to discount some of the assertions made by Piscataway's summary.

And you're creating a post about some lame 50% discount. I got a a $10 off card from Deseret Book in the mail yesterday. Perhaps it's a conspiracy that only Half Tongan Mormonites are receiving this discount based upon our dominant presence in West Valley?

Well I'm sure it's a conspiracy of some sort. I mean honestly, if we are not required to pay full price and others are, then there must be some injustice taking place.

Discount = Foul play.

Oh, bullshaloney. I got a $10 card too, and I'm nowhere near Provo. And getting discounts on books when at conferences is nothing new. (although I wouldn't have bought it, unless it was on sale for $10)

I should have guessed. No doubt this middle aged Krispy Kreme eating white male will use his 50% savings for the further gentrification of Utah County. Which will result in my Tongan relatives being exiled into K-Town (Kearns). WEST SIDE Nukka!

I've seen the mountain top, I may not get there with you...mostly because I had to pay full price at an educational seminar where others, who knew the pass grip of an Apprentice Mason, did in fact receive a 50% discount.

50% is a hefty discount, even for an academic conference. Like MS, I would be interested to know whether the 50% discount was available to all conference-goers.
