Baptism for the dead question

In a fairly devout LDS family, if everyone in the family does the work for non-LDS family members, wouldn't the non-LDS family members tend to be baptized by proxy several times over?

The work is only done once for any person. If all the known family members are done, they do more geneology in order to find more to do. More often than not, non-family baptisms are done by the youth. Relatively few baptisms are done by family members.

My understanding is that name recycling does take place. If fresh names are not available for a schedualed youth baptism for the dead excursion, names will be re-used. This prevents any cancellation of such a youth event and avoids dilluting the sense of urgency that the bretheren promote. Anyone else hear the same?

Sounds nice but pure fiction. The last time I went I was able to check out the person I went through for after coming home. I found I was the 8th time this particular individual (very distinctive name and dates) had their 'work' done.
On further checking my spouse and I found many instances of multiple temple ordnances having been done.
Make work or 'busy work' just to keep kids occupied is lying to them. If there are not enough names available you do it the honest way. Tell them more names need to be researched and cleared before the work can be done. Lying, either as a practice or called by 'a gift for creative fiction' is wrong. Lying to keep kids busy will backfire on those who practice and promote it.
