2006 CHI now up on WikiLeaks ....
I won't post a link to avoid Shades' getting into trouble, but download it while you can (the pdf copy is not the best, but it is legible) before the Church's legal bulldogs get an injunction. Enjoy!

I was just going through the disciplinary procedures.
Do you find anything there about resignation?
I don't seem to be looking in the right place, I guess. Let me know if you come across it.

Resignation is discussed on pages 148-50 -- on p. 149 there's a change when one resigns while "suspected transgression" is pending; it no longer gets in the way of resignation.

A poll on MAD asked if it was unethical to post this online. What do you guys think?

I don't know. I'll see what the CHI says about the morality of posting religious procedural manuals online.

My gut instinct is to say that posting the CHI is only immoral insofar as it is illegal to post copyrighted documents without their owners' permission.

Is it moral to put out a detailed manual that controls people's lives, and then not let them see it? Members have no way to know when the Bishop has overstepped his bounds. Many don't even know this thing exists.

Wouldn't that be weird if 100 years from now, Church members treated the CHI like we do the D&C? It could be broken up into chapters and verses, and we could study if for a year in Sunday School.

To think that Mark Twain complained that the Book of Mormon was chloroform in print.
