The First Testament of Jesus Christ

I was thinking that the Book of Mormon should really be called the first testament of Jesus Christ. It talks about Christianity 600 years before the angel appeared to Mary. When you really think about it the Prophets of the Hebrew Bible pale in comparrison to Nephi and Lehi and what they saw - Isaiah, Ezekial with his crazy descritpions, Jeremiah, Malachi or any of the minor prophets did not even come close to describing what Lehi, Nephi and company could described; as Alexander Campbell described as Calvinism being preached in America at the time the Jews were returning to Jerusalem. When the Macabees were fighting the greeks, Christianity was flourising in the Americas. Who could have believed.

A belief in Mormonism only makes sense from a limited elevation. If you get too close it falls apart under its own weight. If your perspective gets too large, it gets jumbled in with all of the other world religions claiming to have found the "only true" path to God and eternal life.. I think that is why so many apologists never engage or "lose interest" in most discussions like this. There is no simple answer that makes these problems go away --

When I was reading different books about the hebrew Bible and new testament, scholars were always referring to christian imagination: meaning you really have to have an imagination when you read that scripture and say it applied towards Jesus of Nazereth; going into the savior of mankind is still another step. You really need to read the entire book to see what it is all about. With the Book of Mormon you need no imagination. God is called Jesus Christ and he atones for the sins of all mankind. You have Chrisianity in the New World before the crucifixion. As Alexander Campbell was saying you have calvinist and methodist preaching in the new world at the time of nehemiah, ezra and malachi and they are writing about their temple and the jews returning - not even a hint about what type of preaching is going on in the new world.
