Donuts instead of bread for sacrament?

One last one and then hit the books because the first of 11 boxes of court records arrived by FedEx on the first of the two appeals today.

Sunday someone forgot to bring bread so one of the kids hit the donut shop down the block and he came back with glazed donuts. No one knew but him until they took the cover from the trays and were faced with breaking bread/donuts. Sure got some funny looks and a lot of little kids grabbing more than one piece from the trays. He was in with the Bishop for some time after the meeting.

Hope the Bishop has a sense of humor about this 'ox in the mire' and shopping on Sunday when people forget their assignments.

I hope he had on a white shirt and tie all tucked in nice or he'd really be in double trouble.

As soon as I saw the title for this thread, my immediate thought was, "Which Ward is this happening in? I would love to go!"

Reminds me of when I was a teacher on a fast sunday a couple of us ate so much of the bread we did not have enough to fill the trays and and the Teachers advisor had to go buy more bread..
I was worried the Bishop was going to beat the crap out of me but instead my Dad only laughed ..

It's a good thing the sacrament isn't blessed to 'nourish and strengthen us'.

Last week at FHE the person giving the prayer balked at blessing the (very unhealthy) refreshments and instead said, "and please bless these refreshments that they will not make us too fat."

If white bread can become the symbolic flesh of Christ via the Sacrament prayer, then so can glazed donut bits. The Bishop was probably just upset that something different had been done.

At least he didn't have to ordain girls as Deacons in order to get the sacrament passed.

We put Sprite in the cups when I was a 14 year old teacher. I wasn't directly involved but knew what was going on. It was passed. Some were offended. The Bishop said it was irreverent but admitted that there was nothing intrinsictly wrong with it.

Even McDonalds allows some room for variation. Just wait for a study to come out in The Annals of Homeopathic Medicine showing that Wonder Bread causes impotency in Mormon males, and see how fast alternate bread or pastry forms soon become acceptable.

Do you think the bread would be "potent" enough to be dangerous at a dose of one small piece per week?
