Who do you most easily relate to on MDB?

Post by _Jersey Girl »

Pok mentioned in one of the award threads that he relates most to ludwig. I'm wondering who you all relate to and why?

Not who you like.
Not who is your e-friend.

Who "speaks the same language" as you? Whose expressions are so smiliar to your own ideas and positions?

Actually, I got the feeling that the people others listed in that thread as the most intelligent or the people they enjoyed reading were the ones they could most relate to. That would seem natural, wouldn't it?

I relate to Sethbag, guy sayer, Chap, Trevor and silentKid (and several others), and I imagine these guys are highly intelligent (but since I don't know them personally, it's tough for me to make that claim. It's one thing to say they post intelligent things; it's another to extrapolate they are intelligent from what they post. I suspect they are, but I'm cautious about making assessments about people based on what they write, unless I'm just joking around. For some reason, it's very important to me to separate the person behind the posts from the persona described by their posts... probably because I recognize the huge disconnect between what I think "Schmo" represents and who I really am).

Hmmm... I guess the people I relate to the most, oddly enough, are Bond and dartagnan. Bond because he is around my age, with similar interests and a pretty laid back personality (which is how I am in real life). Dartagnan because he feels a similar passion about these issues, and lets it run free... more than once I have found that he has allowed himself to say what I really wanted to say but restrained myself from saying.

I had a premonition that you would reply, Schmo. ;-) Thanks for your thoughts. I wonder if it would make more sense if I used the phrase "kindred spirits". Relating to another could be based on a number of qualities. I'll reply to my own question as soon as I've got my thoughts together.

Seth and Dude (especially if you correct the question to read "Whom do you..."). ;^)
