Consiglieri (one of the good guys) Being Eaten by His Own.

There is an ongoing thread at MADB started by Consiglieri who has posted a heartfelt thread regarding his wife's difficulties with church. Specifically, she doesn't like going. Consiglieri honestly admits that he doesn't particularly enjoy attending either. While some posters are sympathetic, many are taking Consiglieri to task. Even DCP chimes in suggesting that the problem may lie in Mrs. Consiglieri's lack of active participation.
Many years ago, a neighbor, the ward EQ president, asked me why I didn't attend priesthood meeting. I gave him an answer that seemed perfectly valid. Because we were friends, I told him "I don't like priesthood meeting". Of course, the answer was unsatisfactory. He let me know that legitimately not liking priesthood was an impossibility and, therefore, not a valid excuse for not attending. When I pressed him for acceptable excuses, he mumbled something about health issues.
Not only do I not like priesthood meeting, I don't like anchovies either. I can't imagine anything short of starvation that would cause me to feel otherwise about anchovies. No matter what I put on them or how I eat them, I still hate anchovies. No amount of greater participation or eager enthusiasm will change my taste buds. I don't like anchovies. I never have.
Here is the link for those interested. Be forewarned. The thread has gotten long.
http://www.mormonapologetics.org/index.php?showtopic=42418I apologize to Consiglieri in advance for any damage my sympathy may cause him.

I don't like priesthood meeting either. Too staid. But since I'm going to be there, I make an effort to liven it up by asking tough questions and expressing deep and controversial doctrines. Not too much so that I dominate the conversation, but just enough to get the conversation going.

Thanks for the honesty. Maybe I'll try dipping anchovies in chocolate.

The reason she started going back to Church isn't because she likes it, but rather because of expectations she feels from her children.
This is an interesting concept. There are people in the Church who themselves don't go but they call on the hometeachers, teachers, scout leaders, or whatever, to make their children "religious". I've never seen it happen but what the parents finally started going. What teen is going to believe they need to go if their parents don't?

Chocolate in peanut butter is better. Trust me.

I'm sorry to hear Consiglieri isn't being treated as he should on MADB. My few interactions with him have been very pleasant.
He shouldn't bother posting on MAD. He should post here instead. :)

He did actually post here for a while, but I think he felt uncomfortable.

Consig is (and has been) one of the most likable posters on the MAD board for a long time. I hope he reads what I'm writing. I believe that one of the reasons that he is so likable--on both sides of the fence--is because he is precisely the kind of guy who would be married to a free-thinking woman who might have a problem with going to Church. Do others know what I mean here? Compare Consig to the "hardcore" MADites, like LoaP, or Scott Lloyd, or Pahoran. Can you ever imagine these men announcing that their wives had problems with the Church? There's no way it would ever happen. Thus, Consig seems like a reasonable guy who is willing to deal with the trials and tribulations of life, whereas those other dudes are as rigid as ever.

Before being banned he was one of my favorites in MADb.
I'm not surprised of his cannibalism, voices of reason do not survive well there.

My parent were not active. Were it not for good YM leaders, bishops and HTs I would never have been active at all, served a mission, etc.
