I think this post in the blog I listed had a ring of truth:

Silverrain is absolutely right. Chad's excommunication is not about the calendar, although as the most sensational part of the story, the media and the anti-mormon crowd will certainly bring it to the forefront. Those who sin privately without trying to drag the Church's name through the mud are afforded more leniency. Why do you think none of those who appeared in the calendar were disciplined?

Really? Have you ever heard the names Maxine Hanks, Lynne Whitesides, and Lavina Fielding Anderson? They are three of the September Six. In spite of many attempts, Anderson has been unable to regain her membership.

They should have shown up at their court of love in a mini skirt with lots of cleavage showing. I can just imagine what some of the questions would be.

A long time ago I was talking to two co workers and one there was a 20 something gal that was showing a lot. I looked at a friend of mine and tried to say "would you trust your life to a microchip" but instead said "would you chest your life (then I stopped). My friend looked at me real seriously then got a big grin on his face and said "do you want to try that again". The gal excused herself and left.

I have an older female employee with a unique sense of "style", which usually involves gaudy outfits showing more cleavage than anyone wants to see (think Paula Abdul on a bad day). I met her in the lobby before going in to meet with a client, and her outfit was particularly bad; she had unbuttoned her shirt halfway down. I discretely mentioned that "it looked like she had missed a button or two". She looked down, said "Oh no, it's supposed to be like that, and then walked into the conference room. I was dying for the entire meeting. When my business partners and I have to attend a meeting with her, we jokingly fight over who doesn't have to sit directly across from her. Ugh.

Very true, Jason. However, I cite the case of Simon Southerton, who wrote Losing Lost Tribe, and was inactive for some six years when the Church suddenly decided he deserved excommunication for "having an inappropriate relationship with a woman". That should make my point even more obvious. Only the most naïve would think he was exed for "conduct unbecoming"

Clearly the Church is more apt to go after someone who is publicly ridiculing the Church vs. the more private sinner. And yea, it is clear the Southerton was dragged in over his book. Interestingly the professor from somewhere in Idaho, Murphy I think was his name, that had DNA issues that he wrote about ended up not going through church discipline. This may have been due to the bad PR that was being stirred up by Murphy's supporters. Initially his SP was going to take action but the publicity seemed to cause him to back down and drop it.

Let me also make it clear that I'm not calling for Courtney Simpson's excommunication. Far from it. I hope she goes on to have a successful life in whatever she does, and I have not engaged in any cheap mockery of her here.

My initial point was about the double standards, how someone working in the porn industry (nothing wrong with that either, per se) can openly declare himself/herself Mormon with no repercussions, yet the Church creates "internal espionage systems" to ferret out critics (my threads are connected). You mean no one knew who Courtney Simpson was? Rollo put that to rest.

Considering that many who leave the Church are also accused of "immorality", and the Church tried all it could to dig up dirt on Quinn, it's rather glaring that they have nothing to say about "Mormon Porn Stars".

I guess criticism, not fornication, is "the sin next to murder".

An independent documentary was made about the case; you can view the trailer here.

No I can't, it said it's not available to be viewed in my country. I trust you that there are Mormon male porno stars.

In that case, here's a YouTube link showing the same trailer for that documentary:
