Okay, I think we can all agree that masturbation does not in and of itself lead to exhibitionism or homosexuality. However, counsel was given on how one might stop masturbating.
Critics, your challenge is to provide better and more realistic advice than Petersen, Packer, or your favorite LDS bogeyman on how to stop masturbating while still remaining true to LDS doctrine. If you can't, your criticism of the advice is not valid and out of context.

The better question is why one should stop when all of the BS reasons are shown for what they are.

Why should one stop masturbating? Who cares? If it's not out of control, why does it matter? Who's business it is anyway? Good grief.

The better question is why one should stop when all of the BS reasons are shown for what they are.
That's not a good question at all because LDS doctrine teaches self mastery as part of salvation. Therefore, it's going to be taught. Can you give better advice?
Why should one stop masturbating? Who cares? If it's not out of control, why does it matter? Who's business it is anyway? Good grief.
You failed. Example, how does one tell if it's out of control?
The policy is essentially a don't ask don't tell type of thing. So if one asks, given LDS doctrine on mastery of self, an answer must be given.

You're slowly getting there. Disagreeing with the prophets? I know you've done that before.
They are obviously wrong, because BC knows Mormon doctrine better than anyone else.

first - the church needs to accept that there is a huge "natural" urge for sex - I have never heard anyone say that or read it.

CFR on the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. I'm calling BS. I was asked that repeatedly as a young man, particularly when I applied to serve a mission and then the entire time I was on my mission.
Perhaps the bishop sensed you had a problem?
CFR on the notion that it is policy to ask such questions as a matter of course. I've never been asked that question in all my life in an interview.
So what's your better advice? You can't go against the doctrine of the self mastery of all your passions, so what would you advise? I never thought the advice given was all that great in the first place. But I've not seen the critic come up with better.

Where have you been? The notion is common in the Church. We teach that these are God given urges that are to be controlled by putting them within the bounds of marriage. Nothing new here.
If we teach only about misused sexuality, our youth might become insecure and uncertain. We may inadvertently convey this confusing message: “Sexual thoughts and feelings are bad, sinful, and wrong—save them for someone you love.” Youth who receive only negative messages about sexuality may conclude, “Since sexual feelings or urges are bad, and I feel them very strongly, I too must be bad.” This kind of thinking can result in feelings of low self-worth, unworthiness, and shame, leaving the youth feeling distant from the Spirit.
