Runtu can probably answer a lot of your questions. He worked for the Church Office Building.
Also, keep in mind that BYU is owned by the Church so faculty and staff for any of those campuses would be considered full time employment.
DCP can probably speak to BYU employee benefits.
A friend of mine works in IT for Church Headquarters. I'm pretty sure he has a 401K.

Thanks for the information: so it seems like they need a certain amount of money coming in every month to maintain the current financial obligations. One might say it is a paid ministry on steroids.

Do you honestly expect the secretaries and janitors to volunteer their services... again?

I don't know them, I can tell how mine works.
I reward loyalty, my bottom line is built for rewarding loyal and smart employee.
I provide health insurance, 401K after few months, I match their investments as much as the law allows.
Health insurance, they pay 50%, I knock off 10% each year they are with me, in 5 years they pay NADA.
I also pay good bonuses right before Christmas which comes handy.
I pay them on their birthdays, special events, you name it...
I remember once, not too long ago being on the other side.
I know, the poor church cannot much my generosity, because they have more important things to take care of.

The person must be a GA. Right?

I'm related to a GA. He does not make a salary. He does have health insurance through the Church, but he lives off of his retirement from his career as an engineer.

Ok, guys, here's how it works. This is largely based on my own theorizing.
TD's relative is director of marketing, sales, or something similar for something lucrative on the for-profit side or very, very key on the non-profit side. I had to laugh at Doctor Scratch's humor, what crossed my mind is that if he's making that much, why haven't they called him to be a GA? LOL!
The answer of course is, he has to be doing something where they need to keep the incentive high, and where his talent can't easily be replaced.
Liz's relative got "salaried", called as a GA so they could penny-pinch. But, he's got to be 2nd Quorum or lower.

It seems some how and somewhere they turned a 19th century sect into a 21st century corporation.
