Supposed 2nd Watson Letter - What did it accomplish?

Whether or not a 2nd Watson letter ever existed, what did it ever accomplish or refute?

The letter issued from the Office of the First Presidency clearly stated the "long standing position of the church" that the Hill Cumorah in the Book of Mormon is the same as that in upstate New York.

The footnote in the FARMS article by Hamblin, sourced from a supposed "communication" from Watson, merely states there is no archaeological evidence for this claim! Everyone already knows that. The statement sourced from the footnote does nothing to change the position of the church.

The two statements are mutually exclusive of each other.

Why do Hamblin and Peterson act as if the 1993 statement adds any value or refutation to the statement from 1990? Do they not understand basic english?

Never coul get either of them to respond to such question. The Hamblin claim does nothing to change the long standing position of the church articulated in the 1990 letter.

So what is the value of the supposed 2nd Watson letter?

That's what I thought -- nothing!
