Miss California Prejean may be stripped of her crown.

Prejean insisted that the pics were just modelling shots, and were taken when she was only 17 years old—a minor. "I am a Christian, and I am a model. Models pose for pictures, including lingerie and swimwear photos," she said in a statement.

CNN.

"They are going over the legalities and clearly she breached her contract," Neal said. "When you compete for Miss California, you're supposed to disclose whether you posed for nude or semi-nude photos because it's grounds for disqualification.

Prejean announced last week that she would star in a new $1.5 million ad campaign supporting what she called "opposite marriage" (marriage between a man and a woman) funded by the National Organization for Marriage.

"Marriage is good," Prejean said at a news conference announcing the ad campaign. "There is something special about unions of husband and wife. Unless we bring men and women together, children will not have mothers and fathers."

What's a 17 year old Mormon girl doing posing nude?

Nevertheless she has been forgiven on
MAD Carrie Prejean and the "Corianton Effect".

Corianton apparently repented and ended up being called again as a missionary (see Alma 42:31). So we can hope there was a happy ending with him.

Perhaps there may yet be a happy ending with Miss Prejean.

Prejean to fight gay marriage.

"The National Organization for Marriage basically just respects, um, you know, marriages and people who support it," she said. "That's what I'm here to do today, protect traditional marriage."

Pageant officials called Prejean a disappointing opportunist.

"In the entire history of the Miss USA, no reigning title holder has so readily committed her face and voice to a more divisive or polarizing issue," organizers said in a statement.

"We are deeply saddened Carrie Prejean has forgotten her platform of the Special Olympics, her commitment to all Californians, and solidified her legacy as one that goes beyond the right to voice her beliefs and instead reveals her opportunistic agenda."

(Wonder what Chad Hardy thinks about this?)

Hmm, I hadn't heard that she is a Mormon. Where'd you hear that? The Wikipedia entry for her states:

Born May 13, 1987,[1] Caroline Michelle Prejean grew up in an evangelical Christian home in Vista, California and graduated in 2005 from Vista High School. She is currently a senior at San Diego Christian College, a small, evangelical liberal arts college in El Cajon, California and attends The Rock Church, where she volunteers with their outreach ministries. Prejean is studying to become a special education teacher and also volunteers for Best Buddies, a non-profit organization that helps people with disabilities, and for the Special Olympics.[2]

And Wikipedia is on the Internets, so it must be true.

Anyhow, I normally discourage myself from enjoying any Schadenfreude when someone else trips and falls, but I have to admit, I laughed out loud when I heard Prejean say something like "this is just the result of people being intolerant of me because of my beliefs", which is hilarious, because these beliefs of hers are actively, even pro-actively intolerant of gay people. It's like she's complaining about people fighting against her right to hate gays or something.

Yeah, yeah, people will attack me for that "hate gays" thing, and argue it's not about gays, it's about marriage. Whatever. I'm not buying it. Whenever someone stands up and says it's not about the gays - it's about the gays. This is as certain as when someone files a $20million lawsuit and releases a statement saying it's not about the money, and everyone sees right through it that, in fact, it is about the money.

Oh yeah, and I love this quote from Prejean:
There is something special about unions of husband and wife. Unless we bring men and women together, children will not have mothers and fathers.

LOL. One thing is certain: children will have mothers and fathers. And there never has been any shortage of men and women "coming together" resulting in new baby humans. Whether they live with each other in a nuclear family or not is another question - and one which doesn't really involve whether a couple gay dudes get married to each other or just shack up for years.

My take is that she has put herself under the influence of some anti-gay folks who are now using her, and she's too stupid to really be in charge of what's going on. It's hit the big-time now, and she's drowning rather than swimming, because she can't handle it.

- Miss Prejean

This statement was not payed for by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Only the National Organization for Marriage was.

If she isn't one, she's being claimed by some: Pearl Diver (who is a Mormon).

Just a thought....I wondered if some of those searches could have been done by Mormons who wondered, after her statement, if she was a member.

I did read today on a blog that Troy Dunn, from the television show, "The Locator" is a Mormon Bishop. I haven't been able to find information to confirm that, but he sure seems to fit the description. :)

Yes, that's absolutely a possibility, Delirious, but I'm Mormon and I don't really care what denomination she is. I'm just thrilled that she was willing to stand up for marriage! :0) It's obvious by the nature of my post, but I honestly believe these searches are from people who are thinking, "Wow, she defended marriage so openly; she must be Mormon and I'm gonna find out for sure." Based on the reaction from gay activists following the Nov. 4th vote, I don't think my theory is too far-fetched.

LDSnana (Mormon apologist):

I could not have expressed this opinion any better. Way to go!

i'm surprised you are so bothered about the number of people that assume she may be LDS. as members of the church we are supposed to stand out (and we do stand out especially in today's world) i'm glad that the hundreds (maybe thousands now) of people searching this are wondering if she is LDS. that says a lot for who we are and its about time they are searching Mormon with Carrie Prejean rather than Mormon with polygamy.

Someone claiming to be "a friend" of Prejean:

In response to Pearl, I was almost positive you were going to tell me that Mormon's are Christian too, hah, I should have clarified. I understand where you're coming from. Anyway, the first time I met her was at a foursquare Christian church when we were both around the 6th grade, and throughout high school, she attended another local Christian church, but not a LDS church. Although we had many good friends who were Mormon in high school, neither she nor I are Mormons. As far as the Southern Baptist claim, I'd have to ask her that. As far as I know, she loves Jesus and has a personal relationship with him. That's whats important. God bless!

Is being against gay marriage intolerable in your opinion?

I'm not sure what you mean. I tolerate people who are against gay marriage every day. They're wrong, but they have the right to their opinions. In what sense are you using the word intolerable? If you're asking whether I believe someone's being against gay marriage is serious enough to me that I'm willing to break laws hitting out at them, or challenge the integrity of our republic, then no.

I find it interesting that the Left is attacking this woman, but has not attacked Obama for saying the same thing last year. Do they think that Obama was lying (a pretty safe assumption for BHO).

Even though I support gay marriage, I don't understand what the big deal is about this girl. She was asked for her opinion and she responded with her opinion. Now they are threatening to take her crown away because they don't like her opinion. Her opinion on gay marriage is no different than any of the presidential candidates during the last election.
