Podcast
I am looking at starting a weekly podcast to discuss Mormonism and all things Mormon. To be successful, I need to have 4 to 5 others who are willing to put aside a little time each week, probably on Sunday evenings, to do a recorded conversation over Skype. I would like the pool of regulars to be big enough that one need not participate every single week, but small enough that listeners can get to know the speaker. You can participate regardless of your membership status, and you can use an alias if you want—although your stage name should be a “real” name.
I would like to keep the discussion light (read entertaining) somewhat humorous, well informed and of high caliber. The topics will range from current events, culture, doctrine and anything that we can reasonably tie to Mormonism. I would hope that listeners will find it entertaining but informative. If we approach a heavy topic one week, such as polygamy, we might offset it by a lighter topic, such as the Osmonds the next.
I intend the podcast to be neither defensive nor attack based. That being said, the panelists will be free to express their opinion. But the purpose is not propaganda for either side of the debate. I fully expect that the majority of faithful Mormons would not like the podcast, so the intended audience are those who are interested in Mormonism from both inside and outside the faith.
The format will likely be:
This week in Mormonism—a discussion of current events both online and in the real world. We will use Church news, general news services, and other sources such as meridian.
Response to Listener Mail—As the podcast gets going, we will likely receive input that we can respond to.
Topic of the Week—A discussion topic, hopefully one that is contemporary, informs, or is connected to current events. Often, this might include an interview with a guest who can bring something interesting to the discussion.
The conversation should be fairly spontaneous, but the agenda for the recording will be available to the participants by Wednesday to give time to prepare and do a little research. We will also establish a blog with links to the recording and a synopsis of discussion with an avenue to “continue the discussion” for listeners.
We will probably record about 3 shows before we begin publishing, to make sure that the editing and final product meets the quality level we want to achieve and give us a little time to tinker with it.
If I can get at least 2 others who are strongly interested I will move forward. Please either respond to this thread and/or PM me. When we get a group together we will set up a Skype call to start working out the details.

Listener? You must be a regular guest.
Re: Podcast
It sounds like a fun idea, John. We could even provide a link to the podcast on MDB.
I would love to participate. I couldn't contribute every week, though.

Re: Podcast
I would be quite interested in participating. I have a lot of time on my hands, of a Sunday, too.

Re: Podcast
John, I wouldn't mind getting involved periodically. I'm not sure Sunday works that well for me, though.

Re: Podcast
Sounds cool, will probably listen in a bit. Do they still do podcasts? I thought they stopped podcasts, and only did calls.
by the way I could do it, if all the smart people pass.
I'm "bondman6" on skype.

Whatever appears to be against the Book of Mormon is going to be overturned at some time in the future. So we can be pretty open minded.-charity 3/7/07

This isn't one of my sermons, I expect you to listen.

Re: Podcast
I'll do it if I can find the time. Sunday nights tend to be pretty busy for me.

Re: Podcast
I guess there is nothing magic about Sunday nights. We shouldn't let that get in the way. We can workout whatever time works best.
I understand that nobody (including me) can commit to do it all the time. Shaking it up every time might be fun also.

Count me in!
And crawling on the planet's face
Some insects called the human race
Lost in time
And lost in space...and meaning
