New Hampshire Latest State To Allow Same-Sex Marriage
State becomes sixth to allow same-sex unions.

By Gil Kaufman

On Wednesday, New Hampshire became the sixth state to allow gay couples to wed. The New Hampshire Legislature approved revisions to a same-sex-marriage bill, and it was promptly signed by Democratic Governor John Lynch, according to The New York Times.

The bill was passed after provisions requested by Lynch were added that ensured it would not force religious organizations that oppose same-sex marriage to participate in ceremonies celebrating it. The original bill exempted members of the clergy from having to perform same-sex marriages, but Lynch said he would veto it unless language was added that would also exempt religious groups and their employees from having to take part in such ceremonies.

It is Good News that the Governor of New Hampshire, made sure that the Bill also exempted religious groups and their employees from having to take part in Same-Sex Ceremonies.

I am now wandering, which will be the first State too legally recognized Polygamy. Will it be the State of Utah? Will it be the State of Vermont? Or, Will it be the State of Hawaii? And what will the LDS Church do, if Polygamous Marriages start becoming legally recognized within a few of the States?

Wait for God's authorization ala 2 Samuel 12 and Jacob 2 etc.

Brad Wilcox Haaa haaa ha...
Wait for a lengthy wait, possibly waay waaay thrice than your life span.
Sorry for this dig but I promised Satan (in Temple) to mock god any chance I get.
Seriously.

Silly bcspace, The Lord God through the Prophet Jacob Condemns the Practice of Polygamy, within Jacob Chapter Two.

It's the age-old argument where BC et. al. refuse to admit defeat. BC's claim is that Jacob 2:30 justifies God's "authorization" of polygamy:

30 For if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things.

What is amazing to me, and, I am obviously in good company with you in this, Brackite, is that they seem to conveniently forget the Lord's prerequisite verse, Jacob 2:26:

26 Wherefore, I the Lord God will not suffer that this people shall do like unto them of old.

Hello Liz,

That is a Great and an Excellent Point You made with Quoting Jacob Chapter Two, Verse 26.

Here is Jacob 2:26 again:

26 Wherefore, I the Lord God will not suffer that this people shall do like unto them of old.

Any so-called "revelation" on the return of polygamy will be when it is politically expedient to do so - much like how ol' Spence Kimball suddenly realized that boycotts and loss of tax-exempt status would do more damage than blacks holding the priesthood.

Oh well - as I heard a dewey-eyed Molly once say in Fast and Testimoney meeting: " I am grateful to my heavenly father for giving me white skin".

As to New Hampshire - I am heartened by this news. NH has always been a libertarian stronghold, and it is only natural that ALL of its citizens now have this freedom.

Hi bcspace,

You would've have been a lot better off in mentioning Doctrine and Covenants Section 132, instead. That is the Section in the Doctrine and Covenants that is Pro-Polygamy.

I have no problems with D&C 132. Knowing that is usually the first mentioned in this venue, I like to remind people of the others.
