So some Mormon buys worthless land and sells it to the Mormon church for double what its actually worth.

Maricopa has been one of the most speculative armpits of the housing boom in Arizona.

For the most part, it's in the middle of nowwhere between Tucson and Phoenix. The land is flat, smoldering hot and desolate near a poorly zoned little hick farming town named Maricopa.

This land will certainly be one of the very last areas where property values may someday rise , if ever, again.

There is absolutely no justifiable reason why the church needs this land. It's not even farmland if it's been zoned for development.

If this isn't one of the most screaming reasons why the feds need to investigate the Mormon church's financial dealings and pull their tax exempt status, I don't know what is.

Its simple. Cash deals for land purchased with tithing funds and the members have no idea its happening all the time around them.

Of course this is WAY too much. This is a blatant case of misusing of the lord's money. But what's pathetically sad is Mormons, who would never stand for their city overpaying for land from one of it's councilmen, would never think of even questioning the payoff of Ira Fulton, "Mormon philanthropist".

And this is simply one case where a reporter actually connected a couple of dots and wrote about it. Imagine how many "Mormon philanthropists" a.k.a large tithers have had their back scratched with church money over the past 180 years.

Church. Yea right!

I suspect Ira Fulton is strapped for cash. The church gave some back to him. Nothing else makes sense (at least to me.) They are not that stupid to grossly overpay for the land.
