Dear MormonDiscussions.com participants:
Lately I've been getting much more zealous with banning IP addresses belonging to spam- and porn-bots.
It recently came to my attention that in my eagerness, I mistakenly specified an overly-broad IP range that caused one of our legitimate members to be inadvertently banned, too.
THEREFORE: If you're reading this and, when you try to log on, you get a message stating that you've been permanently banned, then the message is in error--you
haven't been banned. Please send me an e-mail at
drshades1@gmail.com and I'll fix things for you.

Tor can be useful, particularly within Firefox, but not for normal browsing. Slow as molasses for typical surfing. But if being used to register and post circumventing a board banning it works alright. But you are right that has nothing to do with the topic of the opening post.

The spambot hidden behind tor (or similar Southwest) can present IP addresses which can be the same as of a real user.
OK, making the range broader can cause more side effect ...

So far 75% of the spam-bots have been originating from either the Ukraine or Russia. 20% have been from the British Virgin Islands.
So I don't think they've keyed into TOR yet.
