Martha Beck and Father Litigation Fund

Post by _Joey »

I thought when this first started that the Nibley family, through FARMS, BYU or the Church (all the same duh, I know) set up and had funded a legal defense fund for the Nibley family/FARMS.

So what happened to those monies and was there ever an accounting?

I asked some years ago but got the Millet. Anyone know how the money was spent?

I have no sides in this. I just would be very dissapointed to hear the funds were spent to publish another Provo best seller!!

It might be important to first find out if there ever was any money in the fund. No sense in probing into a dry hole.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

"The Millet." LOL, Joey!

Mr Peterson acknowledged its existence at the time. I believed it was made public through Provo media and perhaps even the FARMS channel. So I don't think there is any debate about funds being collected.

Perhaps Mr. Peterson, being the expert and in the know of all things Nibley could give insight into how funds were used, or returned, since litigation never materialized.

It was definitely made public in the media (along with the process to contribute), because I remember reading about it. I'm sure some funds were contributed. I, too, wonder what happened to them.

I'm afraid I don't know what "got the Millet" means (I can only assume it is a frighteningly witty allusion to some interpretation of some incident involving Bob Millet), but if you're referring to this thread:

I saw nothing inappropriate from either side of the discussion. Can you point out where the administration of "the Millet" occurred?

You seemed to have a side the first time you posted this and still now. You disapproved of the fund and suspect (or more likely want to foment the idea) that something underhanded has taken place. After all, if private donations were returned to their private donors, you would have been notified, right?

In situations like these the only people who are notified are usually those people whose money is involved. The website is down and the bank currently has no means to donate to the fund, so something has happened to it. I guess if you really want to know you can get in touch with someone who donated to it.
I like you Betty...
