Just curious....How did you arrive at the conclusion that Jersey Girl was a Catholic?

Eliminate singles wards. They need to be in a regular ward for pretty much the same reason why homosexuals should not be allowed to raise children; they need to be in the presence of proper examples.

Nice to see that the Church can grow more Gaz's for the next generation.

Jersey,

I think your missing the point of Pauls statement. He is addressing the point you make in regards to the temple sex.

He is speaking in regards to the loss and corruption of the knowledge of God. In verse 21 he speaks of the thankless and vain beliefs of those that were in the church. Members who did not honor their covenants and did nothing to increase and strengthen their faith. Their faith in truth became weak, and their imaginations took hold and their ignorance of truth destroyed what was supposed to be a household of faith.

Just as the Roman government took hold of Chritianity and melded pagan ritual into the faith, calling it Catholocism, the pagan practices prior to the time of Christ wiped out true worship and faith, replacing it entirely with false beliefs, such as those Paul was addressing. Remember that at one time the only faith known was that of Christianity, what Paul addresses here is a reoccuring problem that many previous prophets had struggled against.

See for example Leviticus Chp.19

26 ¶ Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times.
27 Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.
28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.
29 ¶ Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.
30 ¶ Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the Lord.
31 ¶ Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.

Paul calls the practices of the pagan temples "vile affections", "unseemly", "reprobate", "unrighteous" and "without understanding". The practices of these so called temples affected the minset of the community, corrupting it and establishing a blasphemous culture that accepted grosser customs.

Gaz,

I don't know what you're talking about there. I'm sick as a dog and I might not be thinking clearly.

What's up with the Noah/Christianity reference?

I'm not following you.

Jersey,

God the father rarely makes appearances when dealing with us. It was Christ who commanded Noah to build the Ark, and it was Christ who they learned from when their prayers were answered. All Old testament prophets practiced Christianity, they looked forward to his coming the same way we look back on his appearace in the meridian of time. It was Christs finger that wrote the Ten Commandments, and it was Christ who spoke to Moses on the Mountain.
