Goes after women of all ages using his position of power to push them into sex with him using 'spiritual wifery' as the hook... in addition to getting to screw the top dog in the pack. Those who rebuffed his advances he slandered and maligned and tried to run out of town.
If he were around today and tried this and was found out he would be in prison if he lived that long once some fathers and husbands found out what he was doing.

Yes, he was. He would tell young girls "If you become my wife you'll be saved and your entire family will be saved too!" When I first read that, that is when I knew he was a fraud. Because, while going into plural marriage "might" save a person (if the doctrine is true), there is just NO WAY that it would save a person's entire family. A CON-MAN would say that to a young naiive girl (and Joseph did all the time), but not a Man of God!
And, yes, if the girl refused (most did not refuse) Joseph Smith went around ruining their reputations. He was a liar, very spiteful too. An adulterer many times over. Took me YEARS to finally admit that to myself. It was very difficult, very painful to have to admit; since I had tried to defend the man for dozens of years.

No, he wasn't. He would usually ask the parents or a relative's permission if it were okay to be sealed to her.

Ever watch, To Catch a Predator?
It is a great show where the reporter, Chris Hanson sets up sexual predators and catches them on tape!
He shows how these predators manipulate and lie to get young teenagers, (boys and girls 14 and 15) to have sex with them by using a decoy, then when they are caught they are interviewed.
It is amazing to hear the excuses and justifications... they all have them and, no the "God said" excuse just doesn't fly.

The problem with this show is that the decoy is almost always a willing participant. And I am sure that the decoy is more than willing to do what the predator wants and says so through the chat. And then the decoy invites the predator over the house when the parents are assumed away.
It is phoney but it does get the job done.

Tell ya what. Lets say I am a charismatic preacher who holds sway over your neighbor. I approach their 14 year old daughter, lets call her something random like Helen. So I ask the parents permission to screw...i mean be sealed to Helen after already priming her with sweet talk and other prophetic bull.
How is that not predatory?
