Keith Merrill is a Rod Meldrum acolyte. The funny thing is that these people believe the DNA evidence only supports a North America setting, but they reject the archaeological evidence that disproves the North America setting - which is exactly opposite of the FAIR approach.

LDS filmmaker says Book of Mormon set in North America - Deseret News
I guess Deseret News had second thoughts about the title of this article. It's been changed to the much more vague and pedestrian, "N. America preferred site for LDS film."
Pussies.

Re: LDS filmmaker says Book of Mormon set in North America
Merrill said his mental map has been altered by DNA experts who are not finding hard evidence that the Book of Mormon people ever lived in Central America and by researchers such as Rod Meldrum, the author of the new DVD "DNA Evidence for Book of Mormon Geography." Meldrum and other researchers argue that the Nephites and Lamanites lived in the same basic area of the United States where the LDS Church was founded.
DNA evidence?
Haplotype X is dead and buried is it not?

Just read the comments to the article. Apologists must be weeping into their diet cokes by now. obviously no one is listening to them. Except other apologists.

Archaeological evidence? or do you mean geographical description?
Please explain further because I know of no archaeological evidence that supports the location of the Book of Mormon setting or anything Mormon.
I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably.

Pussies.
Hint: owned by the church. I doubt the Brethren want the News to paint them into a corner. Some poor editor got his butt kicked.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

"I can't wait to redo the movie and put buffalo in it," he said.
I see the buffalo as a good candidate for a curelom or cumom. But I still much prefer a Mesoamerican LGT.

Re: LDS filmmaker says Book of Mormon set in North America
Joseph Smith stated plainly where the Lamanites lived during his time as well as Book of Mormon times. He and D&C revelation had no problem placing them in Ohio, Missouri and the North American continent.
What, Joseph wasn't really receiving revelation and Truth?
Might help if we could actually find some Lamanites, wouldn't it?

I don't agree with everything that I have seen on the Meldrum website. I think he goes way too far with some of his conclusoins. But I also don't agree with a lot of the Fair stuff. Too many of the Fair people act like their conclusions are teh only possibly right ones. My few interactions with the geniuses at Fair have not left me with a very good imnpression of many of them. As my grandma used to say, tehy come across as 'snooty'.
I don't care where the Book of Mormon took place. It's enough for me to know that it happened somewhere.
