Elder Holland's talk at General Conference...
Elder Holland's talk at General Conference was a battle cry for all apologists and an indictment for those who left the church. I say, god bless Elder Holland for his talk. He has said what I have said over and over again: The early foundation of the LDS church is its strength and the Book of Mormon's foundation rests with the blood of Joseph and Hyrum. And with the witnesses.
Apologists to the barricades!!

Wow, Elder Holland was fired up! He seemed angry and very defensive at what's being discussed by critics of the church on the internet.
I have a hard time believing he isn't fully aware of the issues being discussed by critics on boards like this and MAD.

We live to serve.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

He specifically said he was targeting those in the Church. I think it is the apologists that he is targeting.
By the way, the talk was ridiculous on about 10 levels.

Anyone mind giving the Cliffs Notes version of his talk for those of us who aren't masochists?

Yes, and you are doing a wonderful job denying Joseph Smith's prophethood. Have you now changed your heart?

I was about to say........you took the words right out of my mouth.
The exmo fascination with Conference is also interesting. Beats me. Some of them probably listen more now than when they were members. LOL.

I third the request for a synopsis by John who has already taken one for the team, might as well make some use of it..
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.
LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

I think for 90% of them it is because they have active family members and it is on in the house. The venting online is to keep the peace at home by saving the frustration for the internet and preserve the peace in the relationship.
I however, do it for fun.

Perhaps you may think so. But many like yourself are also listening. He made a strong statement about Hyrum and Joseph shedding their blood and bearing their testimony to the guards. he made a lot of sense. The strength of the LDS church is with its beginnings and with the witnesses and with the death of Joseph and Hyrum. It defies human nature what happened with them and with the witnesses. One would have come clean if it were a fraud if only to save their skin. And the witnesses had nothing to gain with their silence about the 'fraud'.
