Oh, and what Nehor said. The church actually does much for children--more than you are admitting.
I'd be happy to "admit" to whatever the church is doing... care to share? I work with Lutheran Family services, the United Methodist Family Service, Catholic Charities among many other religious based organizations created to help families of all kinds... I do not know of a similar program in the LDS church.
LDS social services. It assists with counseling, adoptions, and addiction recovery. It has some connections with our welfare and Employment programs.

I don't see any evidence for this unconcern. In fact, I would tend to think that gays parenting children itself is another form of child abuse.
BC, this is the single-most ignorant comment you have made on the board.
I don't know why I'm even asking this, but please enlighten me. Why do you feel that gays parenting children is, in itself, a form of child abuse?

truth dancer,
For the life of me I can't figure out how it makes any difference (for those not involved)whether a couple (living together, forming a family, raising children) gets officially married or not. (I can see only positive results from this).
Its a little thing caled the Abrahamic Covenant, the Patriarchal Order. Its the highest covenant we make in the Temple.
You might want to look into it.

Does the LDS church care about families?
Yes
Do they care about children?
yes
As I have stated numerous times, I just do not understand in any way whatsoever, how gay/lesbian marriage can harm children or families.
Intelligent persons may differ in opinion. They may believe it is best for a child to be in a Mom and Dad home.

You could be right. You may be wrong.
What I do see is a Country that has over half a million children in the foster care system (residential centers, group homes, etc); many sexually, physically, and emotionally abused.
I see a huge need to help children; to provide homes, stability, love and care.
Sure
It baffles me why the LDS church is completely obsessed with gay/lesbian marriage but completely unconcerned about the real problems facing children.
I think your leap here is a rather huge one. The two are no mutually exclusive.
Here in VA many religious organizations are stepping up and creating all sorts of programs to improve the lives of children who have been dealt a seriously bad hand, the LDS church seems completely oblivious to what is really hurting children and families.
Do they? And you conclude this based on what? Actually I think the LDS Church is very concerned about the plight of children.

Oh, for goodness' sake. There isn't any more evidence to suggest that gay people make worse parents than there is to say that Mormon people make worse parents. People who believe that it's "best for a child to be in a Mom and Dad home" are at least as loopy as the people who believe it's best for a child to be in a non-Mormon home. No amount of special pleading for the religion you were inculcated into can change that fact.

He didn't say that gay parents are abusive to kids. He stated that children being raised by gay parents is
a form of child abuse.
He doesn't demonstrate a need to explain that.
Go figure.
